Chilkoot Haven

Loved the location. Never saw so many eagles and it wasn't even peak salmon season yet. Didn't see any bears but only because we had fallen asleep when they came to the river. Quality materials used in the construction of the rooms, attention to detail. Comfy bed! Erica the property manager was very informative and helpful.

Chilkoot Haven: So WOW!

Posted: May 24, 2017

When we came at first it was a little bit cool in the room, it took a while to heat, but this is a splendide place in such a wonderful spot. We saw many eagles fishing for food, it was a special time. Would defenitly go back!

Blue Heron House: Wonderful easy family gettogether

The ocean front unobstructed view is spectacular, the house comfortable, and easily accommodated us (two couples) with new grandaughter.

Cozy Cove Cottage: A Lovely House in Haines!

Posted: May 19, 2017

This home is beautiful and has everything you need for a vacation getaway in Haines. The location is private and secluded and there are grizzlies and eagles right at your very own section of the ocean! Good beachcombing beach but not for swimming or chair lounging. The home has satellite Tv, two nice sized upstairs bedrooms and pull out sofas on the main floor. Kitchen is well equipped. Could have used dish cloths and dish towels which we couldn't find. There is a nice wood stove as well as a toya oil stove and there is free wood for you to use. This place is well out of town so if you don't mind daily drives into Haines you will love it! It is super private. Beds are very comfortable and the duvets, comforters, sheets and pillows are very nice. There is a waffle maker which was a really nice treat! As well as a gas stove which I loved using as I don't have was spotless, you could eat off the floor. Nice outside deck. House needs to have a fully stocked first aid kit.

Manager Response: So glad you enjoyed our home! We have purchased a new fully stocked first aid kit at your suggestion. Thank you--we hope to see you again!

Snappers Inn

Snappers Inn has everything you need for a great stay. Lovely house right across the road from the ocean, beautiful mountain views. The kitchen has all your needs, and Snappers Inn is a spotless clean & warm inviting place to stay, we wished we had more time. We will return.

Absolutely beautiful property and friendly owner. Beds were comfortable and the place tidy. The well water was kind of a turn-off for showering and water in the soft hot tub as it smelled and was clearly not for consumption but the owner did provide clean drinking water from the spring. There were nine of us and we were fairly comfortable. The essentials were there but we had to wash most of the kitchen items before using them (Pots, bowls, slow cooker, plates, glasses). The location across the beach and property were the big selling items and overall we enjoyed our stay.

Chilkoot Haven: Great Service, Clean Room and great view!

Thank you for having us and our guests stay at your cabin. We have a wonderful stay for two nights. We enjoyed the gorgeous view from the lodge and we could see mountain goats right from the property. Also, we could hear Sea Lions chasing candle fish as well! Nice and professional service of Ericka as well. Thank you and we will come back again!

Great house in Haines

My wife and I happened onto "the cottage" and were very pleased with our find. The house has a wonderful view of Lynn Canal and the small boat harbor. It is in town so you can walk everywhere. The place is clean and well supplied. I would recommend this place to anyone without hesitation. Haines is beautiful and this place made it even better! R.

The Cottage in Haines is absolutely the most value of our stay after a long day drive. It's clean, comfortable and has everything you need for short or long stay. The view from the window and terrace is the kind of dream holiday. The location is very central to all the shops and downtown sight seeings.

The Attic: Home away from home!

Posted: Apr 3, 2017

I brought my wife and her best friend up from Colorado to do some rad skiing outside of Haines. Knowing we would be dealing with no transportation, down days and weather issues we wanted a centralized spot near downtown. The Attic was the perfect solution. It is a cute little flat with everything we needed to really feel at home while we were here. We could walk anywhere in town, it was very comfortable and the owners were more than amazing working with us on dates and weather windows for our stay. I would not give it a second thought staying here again on our next trip! It also has a great view out the front windows towards the water and is across the street from a super fun little coffee and croissant spot which was delicious!

Blue Heron: Best house in Haines!

Nice view!! Our family of four stayed here for 7 nights. We had a amazing time sledding, hiking, walking the beach, sitting by the fire, and hanging out in town. Greg is a thoughtful host and when we come back to Haines we will try to stay here again. The view from the master bedroom alone made the trip, best nights of sleep I have had in years.

Quiet with Spectacular Views! Our group enjoyed our stay here. It was quiet, but not too far away from town. Our stay was during the winter so the mud room was perfect for all our gear. It was clean and comfy. Just a heads up if you have a group of 8. There are only 6 beds, one of them is a King, another is a Queen and the rest are singles.

Clayton Place: Perfect!

The beds are comfy, the view is gorgeous, the living room offers the perfect setting to relax, and the kitchen is well equipped and includes coffee, tea, oils, spices, butter, etc. The owner is very friendly and gave us our privacy, very non-intrusive. I recommend this place to everybody, my group and I truly enjoyed our stay. I will definitely return the next time I'm in Haines.

This wonderful place to stay is a great jumping off point for the wonders of Haines, Alaska. The eagles, mountains, hiking and ocean make this a place worth visiting. The hosts were fantastic and the place is well taken care of, with lots of little warm touches.

The Attic

Posted: Nov 27, 2016

The Attic is a very comfortable apartment & located right in the heart of Haines. We loved that it was across the street from Yelp's highest rated coffee/breakfast/lunch listing. Everything was neat & orderly. Randa allowed us to check in early which was much appreciated. She was very responsive & gave us great advise about traveling to Haines to photograph the eagles. This is a great place for people attending the annual Eagle Festival.

Great location!

Posted: Nov 22, 2016

We came over to Haines from Skagway for a fundraiser being held at the Chilkat Center. The house couldn't have been in a better location for this, as it was directly across the street. Also close by were the Distillery (fantastic cocktails) & Fireweed restaurant (unfortunately it was closed). The view of the bay was amazing! This would be a great summer rental as it was not very heat efficient during the 25 degree weather we were experiencing. One bedroom and the TV room were not heated by the monitor stove located in the main living room. The hosts did provide portable heaters for these spaces, which was nice. The house worked for our group- 3 adults and 2 teen girls. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cookware, seasonings, & coffee. They even provided popcorn, hot chocolate & ice. The Hersey kisses were a much appreciated touch (especially by the teens!). I would stay here again with a group and would recommend this property to others.

We cannot say enough about the view and the hospitality of Greg and Randa! Over the top on both!!! Did not want to leave! The place is not far from town but you wouldn't care if it was when you see the view from the front window!! Loved having all the stellar blue jays eating from the feeders in the front yard too. Cannot wait to return!

The Cottage: Perfect location, cozy and clean.

Loved my stay in this cozy little cottage. I took my parents and son (infant) with me on a trip to explore Haines in October. I knew it was off-season, so was nervous about keeping busy. The central location of this rental and lovely view made it easy to relax inside, explore downtown and go for many beautiful walks. Thank you!

Hidden Cove Farm Suite: Comfort with a view and a hot tub

Posted: Nov 8, 2016

Had a two day getaway in Haines, couple with a dog. Apartment was clean and well appointed. Bed comfy, and the eclectic collection of books and movies were fun to peruse. Hot tub right outside the door and protected by the deck above was lovely, and view of the bay and mountains terrific. Greg was helpful and friendly and his dogs came to meet ours and were sweet and affectionate. Lovely yard and woods around, bird feeders provided entertainment - Greg please refill the lower ones :) Enjoyed our couple of days and will keep this in mind for future visits. Access to shared kitchen and laundry room was nice, and premium coffee on offer was enjoyed.

Nice cozy place. Amazing view, dog friendly, very reasonable price and it's a quiet spot. Everything was nice and clean. Only down side for the downstairs suite is the kitchen, which is located in the furnace room. So super hot and a bit of a weird smell. That said, nothing stops you from bringing your food to the front table and enjoy your meal by the big windows with the glacier view! The hot tub was also great to have after a long day fishing/canoeing on the river. Would definitely recommend it.

Beverly House

House is comfortable and in a convenient location. Gene and Deb are extremely nice, warm and interesting people. It snowed and we were going to call ask for a shovel to dig out the car and walk. Before we got around to it, Gene knocked on the door and he not only brought a shovel without being asked, he had shoveled out the car and walk. What a guy!

Fishing Getaway

Posted: Oct 18, 2016

Ripinski Retreat was the perfect place for our extended family to stay during our Fall fishing weekend. It was equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals, sleep comfortably, and relax after our busy days. The host made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible, right down to the plate of brownies that were waiting for us upon our arrival. We will be coming back for sure! Reservations by Randa was so wonderful to book with. I sent an email stating what we were looking for and the dates we were travelling and she offered us the rental that ended up meeting all of our needs. No fuss, easy transaction and 100% satisfied. Would highly recommend booking a trip to Haines this way.

Chilkoot Haven: A Gem of a Find

Posted: Oct 15, 2016

If you want to wake up and look out your window to hear a quietly babbling river punctuated with the conversation of Eagles, open your eyes to wander up the Chilkoot river, all without leaving your bed...possibly see bears fishing, well this is it. My friend and I were able to cook all our meals there with the help of a BBQ and burner on the BBQ as well as the little kitchenette in the room. Access to pots, toaster, grilling utensils and so on. ( had to cook food that was gluten and dairy free making restaurants awkward). It could not have been better. For fishermen, there is a freezer available. Very comfortable beds, in a nicely decorated room. A real treasure in Haines.

Chilkoot Haven Heaven!

Posted: Oct 10, 2016

We enjoyed the most fabulous 4 comfortable nights staying in the most amazing setting nestled amongst the trees and overlooking the Chilkkoot River and weir watching the bald eagles swooping for salmon, fishermen casting for salmon and with bears "on tap" scooping up the salmon! The Haven was impressive, very comfortable and clean and many thanks to Sue our stay got even better when we were able to spend two nights in the residence! Thankyou for all you did to make our stay as good as it could get! We loved Haines and the friendliness of everyone! Thankyou!

The best place to stay in Haines from our experience of nearly 50 years. Thank you to all the people who made it possible

Blue Heron: Beautiful home! Amazing view

Posted: Oct 1, 2016

Beautiful home! Couldn't ask for more. Much nicer than fishing cabins! At the time of booking I wasn't aware that it was someone's personal home that I was using while they lived temporarily on site (family pictures, zip tied cabinets and closets, etc). Also I didn't realize the home isn't directly on the water (a road separates). The owner makes use of the garage attached to the house. However... We had zero issues with the owner and the place was amazingly clean and beautiful!! Beautifully decorated and modern. And the view was fantastic! Satellite internet (no streaming) and DVD player (no TV channels) but who needs that when in Haines? Kitchen stocked with spices and everything you could need. Home is just on the edge of town. Thank you for a perfect stay!

Chilkoot Haven...should be called Chilkoot Heaven!

Posted: Sep 27, 2016

We booked the Chilkoot Haven specifically for an 'up close' photography experience with bears during the 2016 Salmon run in the Chilkoot River. The location is absolutely perfect. Being elevated, you are able to scan the entire section of river and with a good camera and lens you can capture images / video from right in front of your room. The better option is to spot bears from the porch area of the lodge, then walk to wherever is the closest safe location to observe the bears. The bears come close to the lodge. On more than one occasion the bears were at the bottom of the stairs which lead up from the river to the lodge. The river also holds seals and plenty of eagles and other birdlife as well. Room 3 was large enough for 2 with a microwave, kettle etc for preparing light meals. There is a good sized BBQ with a gas burner in the covered BBQ area that is shared by guests. Wifi can be a bit slow but the real action is on the river! Highly recommended for photographers and fishermen!

Chilkoot Haven - Outstanding Experience

Posted: Sep 26, 2016

Awesome time

Posted: Sep 24, 2016

We had a wonderful time watching the two bear families! We had a problem at home so it would have been nice to have cell service, but that is probably out of your hands. I was commenting that a hair dryer seems more needed than an iron, but that 's just me. No complaints at all - gorgeous place, very comfortable. We didn't have any neighbors, but I'm not sure how the patio would be if the place was full. I guess it would be a great way to meet people, but not much privacy. I have already told lots of friends about your awesome place!

Cottage in Haines - Loved it

Posted: Sep 23, 2016

This is my second stay at the Cottage. I absolutely love it. The location is perfect. The view is amazing. We rearrange the living room and watch the ocean while we have our morning coffee or night cap. We plan to return every year around the same time. WIFI was an unexpected added bonus. Very clean. Nice bathroom. We couldn't figure out the bedroom TV. We got in plugged in but couldn't get the TV to actually function. I would suggest having it set up so all the guests have to do is turn it on. The living room TV was perfect. Last Sept when we were there, there was a big thick red satin bed spread and shams. It was a very comfortable and attractive bed linen set. There was nothing wrong with the bed linen set this time but hard to out do that nice red one. I love the Cottage. See you next year :)

Hidden Cove Farm Suite: A little gem

Posted: Sep 21, 2016

The property is set in the forest but open to the inlet view on one side, so it is very private but in a beautiful country setting and quite close to Haines. We had the downstairs apartment with a very nice view over the Chilkat Inlet for two nights. The single bedroom apartment was very warm and comfortable with plenty of room in the sitting room. The kitchen is located in the same room as the washer/dryer and furnace, so it gets a little warm but not unduly so. It is well stocked with plates, saucepans, stove and microwave. The washer and dryer are available for guests with the laundry detergent supplied. The Wifi signal was strong and there is a large library of videos to watch if you wish. Overall a very comfortable, quiet and peaceful place to stay in the Haines area.

Posted: Sep 21, 2016

Our experience at Chilkoot Haven was awesome!! Your place is lovely and would like to come back some day! It was a special treat to be able to see the bears from the deck and then drive down to the river. The sound of the river and the eagles was very soothing. Our only constructive criticism would be to suggest a fan so we could get the air moving...left the window open, but it was a bit stuffy :) Would definitely recommend this awesome place to our friends!

Snapper's Inn

This would have to be the nicest Airbnb places we have ever stayed in. Wonderful location, comfortable homely interior and an extremely helpful host, Randa. All in all a great 2 night stay in a town with a lot of character. Forget 5 star, this place gets 6.

A little piece of heaven near Haines Alaska, called Chilkoot Haven Lodge will satisfy all your needs

Posted: Sep 20, 2016

This was our third stay at Chilkoot Haven Lodge our other stays were in 2011 and 2012. We have never been disappointed with our choice even though the salmon run was poor this year there was still plenty of fishing and bear photography to fill your days. The beauty and location of the lodge is superb with the Chilkoot River only steps away with bears, eagles, salmon and even Harbour Seals coming and going all day. The facilities are splendid with a great barbecue area for preparing your meals of fresh fish or what ever you enjoy having. The owner Sue Folletti is always a very accommodating host and along with her sister Kathy will ensure your stay is a memorable one. We went to sleep each night listening to the Chilkoot River flowing by on it's way to the ocean a short distance away, and woke up each morning to the cries of eagles and gulls along the river. There is really only one very bad thing about Chilkoot Haven Lodge and that is having to leave at the end of your stay, it's hard.

Chilkoot Haven: Magnificent Haven

Posted: Sep 15, 2016

Undoubtedly one of the highlights of our Alaskan adventure. We arrived after a fifteen minute drive from Haines to find the room ready and stepped out onto the deck. The Chilkoot River flowed below and in the distance we could see bears feeding on the spawning salmon. Over the next three days we drove and walked around in both sunlight and rain. But our base allowed us comfort and a place to observe the Bald Eagles and bears below. There is a great BBQ that we used on two nights with additional accessories in a room nearby. This is a beautiful, magical place to stay - the Chilkoot Lake is a five minute walk away and the river and mountains make it so special.

Re: Stay at the Attic

Posted: Sep 5, 2016

Enjoyed the accommodations. Very nice, great kitchen facilities, clean and cheerful. I think a small nightstand by bed in small room would be appreciated. I used stool from kitchen. Also used one of the stools in the bathroom. The mirror over the counter being so low, the stool enabled me to utilize it. A small bench or stool would be nice. Also other mirror in bathroom would be much better without the pattern in it. Such small things but ones I think would be so appreciated by any guest. Met Pam. Tell her thanks again for the welcome gifts and we all enjoyed our stay at the Attic.

Chilkoot Haven Vacation Rental: Amazing views and accommodations.

We stayed a total of 3 nights. Our accommodations exceeded our expectation. Clean, roomy and lots of windows to enjoy the view. There was nothing we needed to bring except groceries and our suitcases. We couldn't get any closer to viewing the Bears, Bald Eagles and Salmon. Your close to Chilkoot Lake the provides another stunning view of mountains Grizzlies and Salmon.we were provided with a BBQ to use and outdoor seating that allowed to fully enjoy our surroundings. If you love the outdoors, this is the place to be. We hope to return!

Hidden Cove Farm Suite: Relaxed, beautiful, great value

Posted: Sep 4, 2016

This is a fantastic, very relaxed spot. You might not get everything you get in many VRBO rentals (e.g. kitchen isn't totally private, no cable TV, rooms aren't huge) but you won't care when there's so many great other things! Incredible view, private hot tub, a very short drive to Haines, super chill property manager, shared fire pit access, huge DVD/board game library, etc etc etc! We loved our time here and are already making plans to come back next year! Great spot with kids - they loved running up and down the huge grassy hill and scooping up handfuls of cute caterpillars!

Posted: Sep 3, 2016

From the moment we arrived at Snapper Inn, we knew we were in the right place to begin our Alaska experience. The location is perfect for walking to town and many of the attractions that make Haines such a special place. The home is comfortable and everything we needed was provided. Patricia was a wealth of information regarding things to see and do, she even drove us to the ferry when our stay was over. All in all, a great place and a wonderful experience at the Snapper Inn!

Can't say enough how wonderful it was. Cabin was fabulous, location breath taking. A real hidden gem. We will definitely be back!!!

Hidden Cove is a perfect place for a family to stay with a view that never ends!

Posted: Aug 30, 2016

We stayed here for a week and loved every minute. There were 10 of us total, including kids. Everyone had a comfortable bed, plenty of privacy and a huge great room and kitchen to enjoy our family get-together vacation. This lovely family home was just perfect for our 4 families! The view out the front wall of windows was fantastic. We marveled over and over at just how perfectly the house had been placed on the property to make the most of it's location ... Private, yet only a 5 minutes drive to town. The Hidden Cove house is designed for active people with a large carport to load and unload cars, a mud room and basement to strip off dirty clothes and boots and get them right to the laundry without dragging our mess thru the house! Not one, but two hot tubs were always hot and ready to soothe tired muscles and relax in. The kitchen had every pot, pan and appliance we needed to cook meals for 10 and the basement was full of games to entertain the kid in all of us.

Paradise West: a paradise in a paradise

Posted: Aug 28, 2016

The most enjoyable was the great view from the deck. At the evening two eagles was sitting in the tree next to the cabin. There was no noise disturbing the peaceful area. We found everything we need for our stay. When we come back, we will stay again in this paradise.

The Cottage

Posted: Aug 27, 2016

The reservation process with Reservations by Randa was really efficient and painless! The location of The Cottage is perfect - so close to town but very private. The owner is very willing to accommodate special requests and attend to anything needing attention. We found everything we needed was included and the place had a comfortable feeling of being at home. On the other hand though, the bed felt old - firm still and not saggy but old. The pull out couch mattress and pillows are past their prime too. The place seemed to be clean overall, but I did need to do some cleaning in the bathroom around the sink and on the toilet. Regardless of these less than glowing last couple of comments though, I would definitely stay at The Cottage again and recommend it to those traveling to Haines!

Chilkoot Haven, Haines / Alaska

Our stay at the Chilkoot Haven was extraordinary, the location is spectacular, the room so clean and comfortable (unfortunately the heater did not work.... it was quite cold at night though), but everything else was amazing. Loving the rocks around the premises, all done with love, so thoughtful and inspiring. We will definitely come back and advertise to friends. Great place ! 5 ***** Kind regards Ruth Hell

I have stayed at The Cottage several times. The deck overlooking the ocean is amazing, the kitchen is well appointed, there is a very comfortable amount of space, and the owner is very accommodating!

We love the cottage!

First stay at Chilkoot Haven

Posted: Aug 15, 2016

Chilkoot Haven has one of the best locations and spectacular views along the Chilkkot River. The fly fishing and wildlife are beyond belief in the area and the rooms at Chilkoot Haven of the highest standard and cleanliness. A stay there would certainly please the most discriminating traveler.

Very nice view, nice accommodations, all went smoothly. We enjoyed the place, but it is a little tight for 4 (2 adults + 2 teenagers). We met briefly with the owner, Greg, very nice

Gorgeous house overlooking the ocean

What more do you need? The Blue Heron House is beautiful, spacious, has a wonderful kitchen, a jetted hot tub for two, fire pit and fire wood, a sunny reading nook, laundry with state of the art machines and is within walking distance of downtown shopping, eating and the new brewery! Not to mention killer ocean views. We had endless entertainment watching the ships go by.

Absolutely awesome in every way.

The Attic worked great for us!!

Posted: Aug 14, 2016

I live in Haines and two families (4 people/3 people) in my family were visiting at the same time and The Attic fit the bill perfectly: a quality place to nicely house 3 or 4 people in easy walking distance to my house at a reasonable cost, we lucked out! The family that actually stayed here enjoyed the accommodations and the view and the central location and we all enjoyed visiting them here at one point or another. My house was the true hub of the visit where I stayed and one of the families but this adventure couldn't have turned out so well for everyone without The Attic. We all want a repeat of this visit, hopefully not too much time will go by and we'll be booking with The Attic again. Randa was perfect too! :-) Big, big Thank You!! 5 Stars Plus!

The Gathering Place: Must stay location!

Posted: Aug 12, 2016

Beautiful cabin with a breathtaking view of Alaska. 5 min drive to town and a 5 min drive to the Chilkoot River. The cabins are stocked with everything you need to have a nice, quiet, relaxing time. Picked up groceries in town and made ourselves meals. The Gathering Place is one of our favourite stops whenever we are in Haines. It's a must stay location if you are wanting a warm, inviting Alaskan experience!

Posted: Aug 12, 2016

Room was very clean and ready for us upon arrival. The view was amazing over the river. The room next to us was occupied, but it was still quiet and enjoyable. It would be helpful if driving directions could be improved on the email. Perhaps there could be detailed instructions given depending on where you are driving from (ex: the ferry, Haines Junction) as we had to stop in town and ask. Otherwise, thank you for a wonderful experience and we will definitely recommend Chilkoot Haven to others.

Loved it!

Posted: Aug 12, 2016

We stayed at Snapper's Inn for two nights, and absolutely loved it. The view is stunning and the location is very convenient - two blocks from "downtown' so far enough that you don't hear any traffic. Patricia welcomed us on the first day, just a few minutes after we arrived and gave us some recommendations on places to go and things to do. The place was clean and well stocked with everything we needed (Patricia even had cold mugs in the freezer, which we used for our fresh draft!). The deck and yard provided a much appreciated location for tanning and eagle sighting. The beds are not full mattresses but they were comfortable. We will definitely be coming back to stay here and would recommend it to anyone traveling to the area.

A real gem in the wilderness

Posted: Aug 11, 2016

This cabin was better than advertised. It was extremely easy to access but private and quiet, with the most astounding views of the bay. The wifi was fast and reliable, hot water and heat plentiful, bed amazingly comfortable, linens in great condition. It has the feel of a rustic cottage in the wilderness but with all of the ease and comforts of home, and is kept in perfect condition. It was really a privilege to be allowed to share such an obvious family treasure! We will be back!

Hidden Cove Farm: Fabulous rental !

This house, its upper floors that we rented,is a dream come true! The scenery is simply breathtaking. It's absolute confort all the way with its numerous bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a large living room and a lovely kitchen and dining room. Greg, the owner, is very nice and the house feels very well loved and looked after! All in all a very enjoyable stay and we would love to come back and rent it again!

Feeling the need to rejuvenate and re-energize, or if your looking to reconnect with nature this location is the place to do it. Close enough to town for a good hike or some fishing. Shutdown your devices and cut yourself off from the hectic stresses of work. This quaint, comfortable apartment is just what everyone didn't know they needed.

Snappers Inn was perfect for us. Right on the harbor, walking distance to town and groceries. Location, Location, Location...this is it. Attention to detail was great and the house was immaculate. The owner Patricia stopped by to make sure everything was ok and comfortable. Highly recommend Snappers Inn! Randa's communication via email was 5 stars.

The Gathering Place

Posted: Aug 8, 2016

I did not have a place to stay when I got to Haines, the ferry I was to take was going into drydock. I went on line a booked the miners cabin for three nights and would have to find another spot for the next 12 days, once I got to the Gathering Place I met with Frank, he showed me to my cabin, just what was advertised a cabin with four bunks, no water, but electricity, nice view out the window and a roof over my head. After my three days were up Cheri was able to put me up in the long house for a night. Since the state fair was in town the rest of the cabins and long house were booked up, I thought I would have to find a spot on the side of the road but she found me a spot in the camping area for the three days of the fair, Both Frank and Cheri were very nice and worked with me to find a place for me to stay, After the fair was over I was able to move back into the miners cabin. Frank and Cheri are two of the best people I have met here in Alaska, I will stay here again next time.

One night stay in August - awesome

Posted: Aug 8, 2016

My husband and myself stayed for one afternoon/night in Chilkoot Haven #3 and loved our stay. The drive there is lovely and the view of the river and the wildlife is great. We sat down on the porch with a little beer and just enjoyed the wildlife and landscape for hours. definitely recommended!

This was our second visit at the lodge.the lodge is very well kept and very comfortable. The weather was terrific and so was the fishing. The staff is always accommodating and very helpful. The BBQ facilities and kitchenette allow meals to made on site, a great feature as Haines is approximately 15 min out.

Another fantastic stay at Viking Cove!

Amazing Excellent. We will return.

Everything we hoped for at Chilkoot Haven

Posted: Aug 4, 2016

We loved our stay at Chilkoot Haven. This was our first trip to Haines and it will not be our last. Our room had everything we need with 2 double beds and a kitchenette and bath, but the most impressive thing was the view. The glass doors opened onto a patio and the view of the Chilkoot River. It was breathtaking!!! My husband enjoyed the fishing even though it was a bit early for the salmon, and I enjoyed all the nature, especially the eagles. We definitely will be returning to Chilkoot Haven, and will be staying longer the nest time. Thanks for a wonderful place to stay.

Spectacular Viking Cove!

Posted: Aug 3, 2016

Our group spent four nights in the Chinook Cabin at Viking Cove this past July. Haines is a spectacular place and Viking Cove is one of the most beautiful locations in Haines. The cabins are nestled among huge towering trees, the point is surrounded by the ocean and the facilities are beautiful. The Chinook Cabin is newly furnished, beautiful inside and out, and has a view of the ocean. The cabin was meticulously clean and is a short walk from the beach. Kim the owner was great to us. This is wonderful place to stay. We will be back!

LOVED staying at the Blue Heron House in Haines AK

Posted: Aug 3, 2016

While Haines, Alaska is a small quaint town located on the inside passage, Blue Heron House is an amazing place to stay with all the amenities and million dollar view. I have vacationed in Haines for years however this was by far the nicest accommodation. It is close to main street but far enough away to feel you are in the wilderness. Very picturesque, especially with the wild flowers and wild life! Blue Heron House is large and beautifully decorated home. with very comfortable beds and the artwork on the walls is amazing, done by local artists. In the morning, you can sit on the deck facing the water and sip your coffee, exercise/yoga or just relax and enjoy the view. The gourmet kitchen is so clean and everything you need is there. In the evening, you can have an outdoor fire, or if it is too cold outside, use the indoor fireplace. Blue Heron House in Haines Alaska is THE place to stay when visiting Haines.

Posted: Aug 3, 2016

What an amazing place to stay for a weekend! The views from the porch are tremendous. This place had all the comforts of home. They thought of everything from extra warm blankets to shades for the windows when the sun rises early in the summer time! Roger and Fran were awesome hosts and were there if anything was needed. All in all a great experience. I highly recommend it!

Gathering Place Miner's Cabin: Clean and dry

Posted: Aug 3, 2016

Cabin was exactly as described: clean and dry, with no frills. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but found the campground to not be as family friendly as we had hoped. Multiple nights of late night drinking and excessive profanity made it hard for our kids (and us) to sleep. The campground owners were delightful during the day, but their nighttime campfire get togethers were obnoxious and unfortunately, right behind the Miner's Cabins which are completely uninsulated. ***Owner's note: the campfire gathering did get out of hand and will not be happening again.

Viking Cove Crow Cabin: The best bed ever!

Great property, gracious hosts! We loved it!

Where I will be staying in Haines from now on!

Posted: Aug 2, 2016

We had a wonderful visit at Viking Cove Orca Cabin! The Cabin was clean, quiet, comfortable and very reasonable priced. The owner Kim and her daughter were warm and hospitable (we even got cookies!) and made sure our stay was as good as it could be. If visiting Haines again with a small group, I will certainly be staying here again.

A great place to stay! Great location. Clean, and wonderful to have a full kitchen to cook in and feel at home. Some things to consider in the future: possibly having some brochures on important information such as check out time, activities to do in Haines, etc. I would stay here again.

I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for all the care and attention you have given throughout the reservation and welcoming process. The Newton Cove Beach is a wonderful place. Although I was working during the whole stay (from 7am to 8 pm) , I was able to enjoy the serenity and peacefulness of Haines. The apartment was cozy; it felt like home. Thank you again for the experience!

Great Place to Stay

Posted: Jul 29, 2016

We stayed at Hidden Cove Farm while on a Halibut fishing trip to Haines. Unfortunately strong winds kept us off the water so it was great to have such a comfortable place to stay. Our host Greg, was great. Available if needed, yet not intrusive. Also provided valuable information about Haines and area. A very nicely appointed home that provides everything you need. A wonderful view, nicely furnished and beautiful flowers. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Booking through Randa was simple and very professional.

Amazing Time!

Posted: Jul 27, 2016

We had an amazing time staying at Su Casa. We mostly dealt with the owner of the house who went out of his way to help us out and give us insight into local attractions and restaurants. The studio had everything we expected and is situated on a beautiful forested property with incredible views from the beach of Rainbow Glacier. Even saw the local moose and her babies. Highly recommend!

Paradise West: Amazing View!

Posted: Jul 27, 2016

I booked this cabin pretty much based on the view in the pictures and it did not disappoint! It was incredible. Sitting outside we watched eagles fly over us seals in the water. So relaxing. The non potable water is a bit of a pain but the cabin overall was nice and comfy and the view makes it worth it. We ran into some issues with the water the creek ran dry where the water came from. I called Randa and she was very quick to get it resolved. We wanted a rustic get away, we got one :)

The location is the best place in Haines if you have plans to fish the Chilkoot River or Lake. The view is spectacular even on rainy/windy days since the terrace is well protected from the elements. I appreciated the little things like fresh ground coffee and breakfast muffins. We had dinner using the common BBQ and eating area with some other guests which was the highlight of our trip.

Loved the scenic views-away from town-after all that is why you come to Alaska-but FIY it's not that far from everything you need-restaurants, etc. Highly recommend spending time in beautiful Haines. Eagles, bears, snowcapped mtns, lakes and rivers...a short 1/2 awesome flight from Juneau which doubles as a sightseeing flight-our pilot took us over rainbow glacier for extra views-what more could you ask for. Hidden Cove House and Suite

Posted: Jul 19, 2016

Firstly thank you very much Randa to you and your daughter for helping us out when we first got to Haines. You were both so kind and helpful. We enjoyed our stay at the house. It was the perfect "home base" for our wedding party, and especially for the bride to get ready. Overall we found the house really clean. We did run into a plumbing issue and my husband spoke with the home owner to solve it. We also appreciated very much the kind note you left and the lovely coffee. It sure made us feel right at home. In all I would say that the house is very comfortable and probably best suited for a couple of families with lots of kids :) as oppose to several adults from different families. Having said that I would certainly stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at Hidden Cove Upper Floors! The view is fantastic, the beds super comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and the hot tub a great addition. One suggestion is to fix the latch on the deck as we had a baby with us and it would have been helpful to keep him on the deck with us. We really enjoyed Gregs dogs but with that gater open, they really wanted to go on the house and the note said no. Really a wonderful stay. Thank YOU! Ginny Sampson

The Blue Heron was amazing and was better than expected. It was tidy and there were clear instructions for things like wifi and expectations. A few nice extras too - the badminton net was set up and a beanbag game was put out, which we definitely took advantage of, and a few beer glasses were getting frosty in the freezer for a post-travel beer. :) all-in-all an amazing time with an amazing view and accommodations. I couldn't recommend it more.

Snappers Inn--basic but very comfy

Posted: Jun 27, 2016

This cottage is basic but very comfy and has all amenities needed. Great view of the water and mountains, very close to downtown, off street parking, quiet neighborhood and street. Dishes, kitchen, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher all very new, and cooking items (pots, pans etc.) all provided. Bathroom with tub/shower, toilet and sink very clean and plenty of hot water. Two small bedrooms with largeish closets (no dresser but good shelves in closet for clothes etc.) Lots of pillow options (very much appreciated!) Blinds for bedroom windows so you can darken the room (and get woken by the light at 3 am!) Deck outside is nice. A very good place to base your Haines adventures, easy walk to downtown amenities (4 blocks with a short hill), and a very quick drive to anything else. Best of all its in beautiful Haines with the road north to the Yukon & beyond! Host response very quick. It's pricy but quite in line with other accommodations (midsummer) with all the comforts of your own place.

Booking and arrangements were very smooth through Reservations By Randa, and we found the place to exactly as advertised. I have visited and stayed overnight in Haines so many times over 30+ years, and have to say this place is on top of my list. It is clean, comfortable, quiet, close to amenities, and a great view. Although not a wilderness setting, it was a great starting point for exploring the Haines area with my sisters. Tip: let the shower water run awhile... it will get hot! Also, if you have trouble with stairs you may want to reconsider.

The Nest at Newton Cove

Suzanne and John were absolutely amazing. They truly made my trip to Haines. Some of the nicest people I've ever met who were so fun to talk to, and surprised me with little treats. Can't wait to go back and see them again!

Paradise West--- A Dream come true cabin in a secluded location!

Posted: Jun 24, 2016

This cabin is a jewel! Loved everything from the secluded location in the woods to the full equipped kitchen! We wanted for nothing as everything was provided and organized. We cooked breakfast and grilled out on the deck and beach everyday. The views are incredible watching the Eagles soar to the porpoises swim in the bay every morning. The best view in Alaska is right from the deck! We will be back for a return visit!

It was handy and comfortable

Posted: Jun 23, 2016

Thanks for welcoming us into the Beverly house. It was close to town, quiet and comfortable.

The Gathering Place: A wonderful place to stay while in Haines!

Posted: Jun 23, 2016

Four of us were doing the Golden Circle Tour, from Whitehorse to Whitehorse, via Haines and Skagway (with a Juneau day trip thrown in, in between). We could not have been happier with our cabin at the Gathering Place. Sherry and Bill were so friendly and welcoming. And it is in such a beautiful location! We will definitely recommend this to our friends. Susan and Leslie, Vancouver BC.

Exceptional View

Posted: Jun 21, 2016

We stayed at the Blue Heron House after finishing the KCIBR. The view is spectacular. The house itself is well-appointed & comfortable. One tip: it's hard to see from the road, and that makes it hard to find if you don't know Haines.

The Cottage: complete feeling of privacy

Posted: Jun 20, 2016

This cottage was a "leave alone and enjoy" listing and was just great as we were exhausted after a long journey. Haines was a tonic. The cottage was a haven fantastic position just like home.

Beautiful lodging in a beautiful place to visit

Posted: Jun 18, 2016

Highly Recommended. SuCasa is wonderful place to lay your head after a day of sight-seeing in the beautiful Chilkat Valley near Haines Alaska. The apartment is clean and well maintained and is on the water over looking the inlet with awesome mountain views across the water. Tom & Carolyn are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area and they gave me great tips on what to see and where to eat. Tom even showed me where to fish... I couldn't have asked for more

Hidden Cove Farm

Posted: Jun 18, 2016

Perfect location and accommodations for a small retreat group or family reunion. Easy access to the beach and cove or back to the down town area for any necessities. Many extra features for every creature comfort imaginable. The mountain and water view spectacular, the quiet location and closeness to the natural world was what we were attracted to most. Very good value and worthwhile, we would return to this vacation rental again.

Blue Heron House

The Attic: Just perfect

Posted: Jun 3, 2016

What a great little place to stay. Everything we need to cook with was there. It was cozy. Amazing view. Centrally located. Excellent price. You only need to bring your own coffee/tea and your toiletries. We'll stay again we loved it so much.

Snapper's Inn--tidy, well-appointed

Posted: Jun 1, 2016

This visit was our third opportunity to stay in one of Randa's properties. While each has been most satisfactory, Snapper's Inn was our favorite. The photos and description match the property; it is a tidy little well-appointed two-bedroom house/cottage with a great view! Part of the charm for us was the location, as we were traveling without a vehicle. Everything in "Haines proper" was easily walkable, yet we were just enough out of the way to miss the congestion that can happen on cruise ship day(s).

Su Casa: Great little cottage!

Posted: May 30, 2016

Quiet, comfortable, and clean. Seamless booking and communications with host. Perhaps only criticism is weak internet connection and no TV, but that's not what you come to Haines for. Many thanks to the hosts for their hospitality and I hope to return in the future.

Su Casa...Very nice studio in a beautiful place!

Posted: May 30, 2016

I spent three calm and re-creative nights at SuCasa. Carolyn and Tom are very pleasant hosts. It was nice to be with them. The studio is well equipped. I found everything for cooking and for living there.

The Attic!

Posted: May 29, 2016

We really enjoyed staying at the Attic. There were great views, a neat little patio area, and excellent water pressure in shower. It's centrally located so that so that you're a mere skip from downtown stuff (like groceries & brewery) and a short walk from Ft Seward (where best dinner options are). Communication was smooth and prompt. Would definitely stay there again.

AMAZING...stay at Chilkoot Haven!!!

Posted: May 28, 2016

The ten of us thoroughly enjoyed the 'beautiful spot' at Chilkoot Haven. It could not have been named any better! We sure look forward to another trip to Haines to enjoy the scenery. For us, this spot is everything you want in Haines....see you soon!

The Attic

Posted: May 26, 2016

My guests and I really enjoyed the place. And someone who visited us during our stay was very pleased to have been made aware of it, for his future visit to Haines. If I may make a small suggestion, it would be to provide some sheer curtains for the large bay window in the kitchen to make it more comfortable to eat in the morning when the sun is really blinding.

Hidden Cove Farm: Wonderful

Posted: May 25, 2016

This stay was incredibly enjoyable; relaxing, serene, great location.

Such a Gorgeous Home!

Posted: May 25, 2016

We had such a wonderful stay at the Blue Heron House! The location of the house is perfect with a short walk to town and an incredible view of the ocean and mountains. The house itself is also gorgeous with plenty of linens, kitchen supplies and other amenities that made our stay very comfortable and easy. Terri (house owner) and Randa (rental manager) were very helpful with all questions, delivering mail, quick responses and making our stay easy! Thank you so much for sharing your incredible house with us!

Hidden Cove Farm

Enjoyed the stay here very much. Comfortable, quiet, and welcoming. Killer view! A very personable and informative host. The weather, scenery, and hiking were fantastic!! It was 75 degrees on May 12, amazingly. I could easily recommend Hidden Cove Farm to anyone. Thanks Greg! Also, the movie selection was quite good

Clean, tidy, comfy!

Hidden Cove is a lovely place. Great visit!

Cozy and Clean!

Posted: Apr 25, 2016

Perfect stay at Hidden Cove Suite. Greg was a great host - friendly and welcoming. Was a nice refuge after being outdoors all day! The Suite is cozy and clean. Kitchen facilities are basic, but does have a real stove. Location is beautiful - a few minutes drive south of town, directly across from the Chilkat Inlet. Views are amazing, sit in the tub and soak in Alaska!

Beverly House

Great view of the water, great little house. Close to the water, close to town for walking. Friendly owner and property manager. 100% satasfied all around.

Posted: Apr 22, 2016

Could not have been more delighted with the time spent at the Blue Heron house! Everything was above and beyond what was advertised, and the views and serenity were exactly what I needed. Highest recommendation to anyone looking to stay in Haines that wants a 'cut above the rest' vacation rental.

Hidden Cove Farm: Wonderful!

Hidden Cove Farm: Great Views and Location

Posted: Apr 6, 2016

Tucked away on the hillside with amazing views of Chilkat River and the beyond beautiful mountains make this an idyllic place to stay. The location is within an easy bike ride to town or quick run down to the shore for a morning stroll. Haines is a wonderful place to visit.

The Attic In Haines

Posted: Mar 18, 2016

Very nice and comfortable. Service and booking was great. I send workers over for weeks at a time and the price is reasonable. I wish I would have known of this place earlier in the year of 2016. Thank you very much.

The best place for a family to stay in Haines!

Posted: Feb 3, 2016

We went to Haines to support our sons at a swim meet and I am soo glad that we booked the Cottage. It was conveniently located - close to the down town (re stores and the two restaurants that were open) and a short walk to the beach AND If you follow the owners instructions - it is not too hard to find :) I loved having our own space where we could just hang out. The two things that really stood out for me were: firstly the kitchen. In winter there are not a lot of dining options for visitors to Haines. Throw a couple vegetarians into the mix and having a place where you can prepare and eat your own food was fantastic. Secondly, the view from the kitchen / front deck was absolutely stunning. Yes it helped that we had crystal clear days and the mountains were all painted with fresh snow - but they were larger than life. The cottage situates you to look out over the inlet at them. That meant so much to me that I didn't even turn the tv on once the entire time we were there.

The Cottage

Posted: Jan 27, 2016

Randa and Jim immediately respond with any needs I might have. They are professional, kind, and helpful. I love staying at their rental units.

The Cottage

Posted: Jan 3, 2016

In general we really liked the place. Out was comfortable for 5 people, nice appliances, warm. Kitchen area needs better lighting, and parking area was not plowed so we had to park at the top of the hill and walk down the icy driveway/street to get to the place.

Hidden Cove Entire House

Posted: Oct 9, 2015

We rented the whle house at Hidden Cove Farm for the weekend, and it was a treat. So much space for everyone, well equipped kitchen, and an amazing deck!!!

A cozy Haines getaway.

Posted: Oct 5, 2015

This was my second time staying at the Island View, and I can't wait for the third.

Photographer's Dream Package is the "real deal"!

Posted: Oct 3, 2015

We stayed at Su Casa for five days in late September, booking the Photographer's Dream Package. Tom Ganner gave us daily generous one on one pointers. He showed us locations for capturing images of eagles , bears, and landscapes , plus instruction on how best to post-process digital images. The cabin is located 6 miles south of Haines on good roads, and adjacent to Tom's home. It is cozy and well appointed, having all the amenities one might need. An eagle blind sits below the main residence with a view of Rainbow Glacier. We had a great stay, learned a lot, and the Ganners were gracious hosts. Highly recommended.

The Cottage: Good in-town stay, great alternative to a hotel

Posted: Oct 2, 2015

Since hotels in Haines can run $120+ a night, consider The Cottage, you can house 3-4 people comfortably & you get a good view, a little deck, a full kitchen & you can still stumble around Haines after a day of fishing & not have to drive back to your cabin in the woods... My 6 year old also enjoyed the "home feel" of the place, a hotel would have probably bored him to death... On a final note, the pictures do not do this place justice, it is really has a lot more character inside. If The Cottage isn't exactly what you are looking for in Haines, contact 'Reservations by Randa' to look at other properties she manages & I am certain you will find something to your liking, there are A LOT of private properties to rent in Haines! Why settle for mediocre hotel rooms when you can have a property to yourself???

The apartment is a dream!

Posted: Sep 28, 2015

I stayed in Island View for the duration of the summer and had a GORGEOUS time. The apartment itself was so lovely with all the comforts of home, like a soft bed and good water pressure in the shower, and served as a perfect base for my summer in Haines. The beach on Mud Bay is literally steps away and beautiful. There are good walks along the water and it is uninterrupted by cruise ships or the ferry. Pyramid Island seems like a stone’s throw away when the tide is out. The best part of the experience for me, though, was the mountains. I spent my evenings sitting on my porch, watching them slowly change as the season wore on. My landlords were very kind and always made sure that I was comfortable and happy. The apartment is a dream.

So immaculate!

Posted: Sep 24, 2015

Thank you for sharing your apartment. If I hadn't read the other notes in the guest book I would have thought the place was just built, it was so immaculate! We could sit and stare out the window all beautiful. We hope to be back.

Posted: Sep 24, 2015

Thank you for making my first visit to Haines unforgettable. The only thing I regret is that we only had two nights. We've been touring around for almost 3 weeks and I must say this was definitely the cleanest, best equipped apartment ever! Thank you for sharing this lovely place.

Immaculately clean and well maintained

Posted: Sep 24, 2015

What a wonderful place to stay while our son married a local girl from Haines. We so enjoyed seeing her hometown, family, and amazing community. The Nest was immaculately clean and well maintained. Our hosts were most welcoming!

Great place!

We had such a great time here in Haines, especially at the Nest. We felt totally at home and happy. Thank you for such a great place! The Nest was a great home base for our visit.

The view!

We couldn't have asked for better weather. The view is wonderful, the stay was comfortable. It almost felt like home (except for the view)!

Delightful get-away!

Gorgeous weather, the time to enjoy the ocean and mountains, wildflowers! And walk through the rain forest. Thank you for a warm welcome and your cozy nest.

We chose well!

A lovely place to stay. So clean and the view is to die for. Thank you for your help with phones etc. Much Appreciated.

Beautiful views of Chilkat Inlet

Posted: Sep 18, 2015

We stayed in the lower level 1 bedroom suite. The house is less than 5 minutes from town by car and is situated on a grassy hill overlooking Chilkat Inlet with beautiful water views from the living room and bedroom. It was very quiet and peaceful. The beds were very comfortable. A hammock and chairs are outside. There is a "library" of movies available. Wi-fi is available, but was very slow. The kitchen is in the back of the apartment. It was great to have use of a full size washer and dryer (shared with the owners and renters of the upstairs unit, if any). The washer and dryer are located in the basement area along with the kitchen which has dishes and cooking utensils, a full-size stove, a microwave, and a very small refrigerator. The owners stay in the garage apartment behind the house, and their dogs are very friendly. The dogs will not bother you if you don't want them around

Truly a little piece of Paradise.

Posted: Sep 13, 2015

What a wonderful, magical, comfortable hideaway for our stay. We'll return, for sure.

Truly a paradise!

Posted: Sep 13, 2015

We have had a wonderful time here at Paradise West, exploring Haines and the area. We were enchanted by the eagles, the view of the glaciers, and the sound of the waterfalls and the glorious vistas of Southeast Alaska. Thank you to the West family for sharing their cabin. Loved it!

Truly heaven on earth

Posted: Sep 13, 2015

Wow! We had an absolutely fantastic time here. The views, every-changing weather, eagles, quiet, serenity. We ate, slept, rested, read, and practiced yoga with Sarana for 4 days. What a blessed retreat from the busy-ness of life. Thank you for sharing your family cabin with us. We'll be back!

What a treat to enjoy this cabin. The views--breathtaking. We enjoyed our hot saunas and jumps into the icy waters of the fjord.

The word "Paradise" says it all!

Posted: Sep 13, 2015

We will miss the view and the silence. We hope to come back!

Spectacular location

Posted: Sep 13, 2015

A spectacular location and well-equipped with all we needed. There is nothing like sleeping beside water and awakening to an Alaskan morning of mountains, glaciers, and wow!

Enjoyed the peace and tranquility

Posted: Sep 13, 2015

Amazing residence. So quiet and soothing for the soul, not to mention inspiration. We loved Paradise Cove...stunning just like Alaska always has been.

Whole family enjoyed it!

Posted: Sep 13, 2015

Our whole family really enjoyed the view and space. The kids loved the stairs! We enjoyed the view so much we ate every meal outside. We saw eagles flying right in front of the porch and we all really enjoyed it!

The best place to stay in Haines, AK

Posted: Sep 8, 2015

Our experience at The Attic was great. We would definitely stay here again. The only problem was that we didn't have WiFi. The owner came over with a temporary solution but the WiFi stopped working after few hours. Believing that the WiFi issue will be resolved permanently, we would recommend this place to family and friends. Special thanks go to Randa for excellent service! :)

most enjoyable vacation in years

Posted: Sep 7, 2015

Great location. Beautiful site. Greg was a very friendly host. Comfortable apartment. Laundry facilities. The view out the front window reminds you of how beautifully our Lord planned His world. Be certain to visit the wild animal reserve on Mosquito Lake road. We ate at every recommended restaurant that was listed in the newspaper. The Bamboo Room has excellent halibut. We'll be certain to stay at Greg's apartment the next time we are in Haines. Highly recommended. 5 stars.

Historic cabin on the waterfront

Posted: Sep 6, 2015

We had a great stay in the cabin with the huge view of the waterfront and occasional bald eagle. The kitchen is well equipped and the cabin is very clean. The master bedroom bed is very comfortable. Through sun or rain, we always had a great view from the living room. The sauna was a bit hit.

Great time at Hidden Cove Farm!

Posted: Sep 1, 2015

Great time at hidden cove farm ? ? ? ? ? We had a wonderful time during our stay. This is a great place to stay if you have kids and want your space. Close to town and a beautiful view!

Totally Alaskan!

Posted: Sep 1, 2015

Thanks Greg for having us at your outstanding home overlooking the Chilkat Inlet. It couldn't be more Alaskan... My daughter, who wisely selected your place, son-in-law, my wife, two grandkids, everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Alas always too short. But we did have our freshly caught Salmon limit! Our host, Greg, was friendly & very helpful. I would definitely recommend this home to families or groups... The fire pit was a huge bonus on the last night! Hope to return soon.

Beautiful Mountain View

Posted: Aug 31, 2015

This place is quiet, peaceful, gorgeous. Ocean, mountain, glacier, waterfall, all out the front window when you wake up in the morning. Comfortable bed in main bedroom, extra spices for our use. You do have to get your own drinking water, and for some reason there was very little there for us to start with, which could be improved. But you do go by the water on the way to the cabin, not a big deal. We loved the spotting scope too. One other suggestion: couch really needs to be replaced. It is the focal point to sit and relax, but isn't very comfortable anymore. (sides sink down)

exceeded our expectations!

Posted: Aug 28, 2015

Our stay at Viking Cove exceeded our expectations! The host was out on the property when we arrived, and she greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome from the first moment. The accommodations were exceptional...clean, modern, updated, and comfortable. The bed was comfortable, and the views amazing! Viking Cove is a spectacular place...nature all around! I mentioned it was my birthday the next day and that morning we woke up to a bottle of wine on the front porch!! The drive from Haines is beautiful, and quick. I would definitely stay here again, and want to tell all my friends about it. If you need a place to stay during your Haines visit, this is a real winner! Oh, and the booking process was easy. Randa was helpful and quick in answering my questions before arrival. 5 stars all the way around!

Great stay at a very nice, central location

Posted: Aug 28, 2015

Once again a very good stay at the Attic. Internet was not working but owner promptly fixed it. Would suggest a BBQ on the deck would be a nice addition. You can't beat the location and the views from the deck.

Heaven on earth...

Posted: Aug 27, 2015

Once upon a time in a not so far off place. There was a cabin in the woods. With a view that fairy tales are made of. The sauna was not too hot nor was it too cold......It was just right, hot and steamy. When I die and go to heaven, I'm sure it will look a lot like Paradise West. Will I return??? Are you kidding it's already booked 2016 one week In Haines....Heaven. I mean Paradise West.

Pictures don't do it justice!

Posted: Aug 18, 2015

Loved staying at The Cottage. The pictures don't do it justice. Sitting on the deck at night watching the cruise ships pass was a great way to end each day. Nice quiet location and easy walk to all the town attractions and restaurants. Perfect for a couple.

Posted: Aug 16, 2015

such a better alternative then a hotel room, so much roomier. Very clean, nice location.

Posted: Aug 15, 2015

The Orca Cabin was perfect for our time in Alaska. It rests in a beautiful spot among the trees overlooking the water and the mountains beyond. It was comfortably furnished and competely stocked with all the necessities to make it feel like home. We enjoyed sunrises and sunsets on the beach. We could go for hikes or just visit and play games within the cabin. The Orca Cabin will always be a special memory. A great place to stay!

Su Casa

Posted: Aug 7, 2015

We enjoyed our stay and found Su Casa to have everything we needed. It was a short and very reasonable distance from town for those who have a car. We enjoyed a short walk to the ocean from our doorstep and seeing the two moose upon our arrival was a bonus! Staying in this area allowed us the pleasure of a walk at the state park, a visit at an amazing art gallary, and some visiting with the local fishermen on Mud Bay road . We found Su Casa warm, cozy and the bed was very comfortable. Thank you.

Posted: Aug 5, 2015

Thanks! The cabin was wonderful. Kym (the owner) was great to deal with.

Great location & view

Posted: Aug 1, 2015

Can not fault the location & amazing view. However the shower is in need of attention, after a long hike relaxation is a must

great appartment with a great view

Posted: Jul 29, 2015

We stayed there for two nights on our trip through alaska. The appartment is located in the ground floor of the house. The location is great. Hidden in the forest with an amazing view to the glacier and the sea. Washing machine and dryer were provided. We would definatley come back and highly recommend this place.

Posted: Jul 29, 2015

The Directions to the accommodation was well described and therefore easy to find . The hotel was located in the basement of the house . It was all very clean and for our 2 - night stay , the hotel was huge with a large living area , large bedroom, bathroom and a laundry room ( washer and dryer available ) . The location of the house is perfect and the view was just awesome . I can only recommend the hotel , also perfect for longer stays.

Perfect place to stay in Haines!

Posted: Jul 27, 2015

The Attic was the perfect place to stay in Haines! We arrived from the ferry a little early before check-in, and the place was still being cleaned up from the last guest, but our host let us drop off our bags and even gave us some advice for good places to eat. The beds were comfy, and the big picture windows gave a great view of the harbor! We didn't have a car, which made getting downtown from the ferry a bit difficult (the only taxi in Haines wasn't running the day we arrived), but the Attic is right in the middle of downtown - perfect for walking visitors! Thanks!

Excellent Cottage in Haines

Posted: Jul 20, 2015

We highly recommend the cottage. It was spacious, clean, with ample kitchen amenities. Excellent, comfortable bed! Located in center of town with great views of harbor with private deck. Amazing combo of convenient to everything in town yet completely quiet and private. Best place we've stayed so far! Superb!

Best View in the Chilkat Valley

Posted: Jul 17, 2015

Our family would like to express our gratitude to the West Family for making your small piece of Nirvana available to us. We enjoyed our stay at your beautiful cabin on Paradise Cove in one of the most gorgeous places in all of Alaska. The log cabin is beautiful and well stocked with everything we needed for our family get together; all we needed was our suitcase and our groceries. The Sauna was an added bonus for us. The peacefulness of the cove and the views of the glacier gave us the relaxation balm we needed. We’re planning our next trip to Haines and Paradise West already! Thanks Randa for all.

The Nest at Newton's Cove

Posted: Jul 7, 2015

The location of the Nest is close to town with a great view of the water and mountains. Nice owners, clean apartment and a comfortable bed. I will recommend it to my friends.

A comfy nest

Posted: Jul 3, 2015

The location was perfect and with a beautiful view, you never had to leave! The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was supplied adequately. The heater was very nice. In honesty, the sofa was VERY uncomfortable, too soft. We worked with the pillows to make the best of it. There is no table to sit down and eat or play a game. and if you sit on the stools you face away from the view. A small card table and a couple of folding chairs would be nice. The kitchen dishes are fine but there were no prep bowls/serving bowls. The knives were not useful either. The right refrigerator door doesn't close correctly. I would prefer two queen beds, even if I had to give up a nightstand. Internet was slow and expensive! Apparently my phone backed up each night and so I used a fair amount of data.

Greg was an amazing host; we visit Haines 4-5 times a year and will certainly be booking here again. Thank you!

Thank you for the wonderful stay. We couldn't have asked for better weather!

Excellent location

I have been staying at The Attic for several years and have enjoyed every visit. They are family friendly and ready to respond to any need (which is rarely required.) Customer service is wonderful.

Our go-to lodging choice in Haines

Posted: Jun 9, 2015

We recently stayed at the Island View guesthouse and would definitely recommend it to others visiting Haines. Just steps from miles of beautiful walking beach, the location is perfect--a peaceful spot just a short drive from town. Fran and Roger have done a fantastic job equipping the cottage with everything needed for a cozy stay, from fresh ground coffee to fluffy bath towels. The beds are extremely comfortable and the quiet location ensures a restful night's sleep.

Awesome view!

Hidden Cove Farm provided the space we needed with the view we wanted ~ perfect for four sisters tromping down memory lane. Comfortable beds, the ability to cook when we wanted, space to relax. Great landlord, family and dogs too!

Wonderful stay!

This little cottage, located right downtown, yet nicely secluded with a wonderful view of the harbor, is perfect for 2 people. Front deck, comfortable living and dining with a kitchen, very comfortable bed, can't recommend highly enough!

A true paradise

This was our second stay, and we will be back again! The cabin is clean, fully stocked, and has the BEST view. We took our 2 small children and had no issues. I highly recommend.

Su Casa

A short and breathtaking drive from downtown Haines. Welcoming proprietors and clean, quiet accommodations. Lots of natural light! I especially liked the small, private back deck. Park at the first turnout after the driveway so you don't have to scale the steep hill on your way out. Will be staying here again!

Stayed at The Attic for the Haines Brewfest and had a great time! Breakfast and mimosas on the balcony each morning in the sunshine, plenty of space for four people, and easy to walk anywhere around town. Everything we needed for a great weekend.

Great cabin with beautiful views and surroundings. The sauna was a great. We loved out time here and plan to return!

Lovely little place, secluded with all the amenities, fairly close the water and surrounded by trees.

Great stay in Haines at The Attic

Posted: May 22, 2015

we really enjoyed our stay at The Attic, good accommodation for a couple, clean quite and comfortable, within easy walk of everything. We would definately stay here again!

Lovely getaway

Posted: May 14, 2015

We really enjoyed staying at the cottage! It was very open yet cozy and spacious enough for the 2 of us (kids stayed with relatives!) My favorite part was the beautiful view and lovely deck where I did my morning yoga and meditation. I also sat out in the chairs to take in the gorgeous sunshine! We were able to rest and relax, which was just what we needed!

Perfect location for families

Posted: May 8, 2015

I stayed 2 nights at The Attic and it was perfect for us! Central location, you can walk to the stores, walk to the waterfront, it is very convenient and offers a nice view too! It is quiet, the little coffee place in front offers a very good selection of healthy food and you can always use the fully equipped kitchen (very good with kids). I would recommend this place anytime as even if it's raining, you have enought space for your family, a nice tv, and museums are quite close too. Usefuls tips around town are provided and we used them all !

Kitschy waterfront cottage

Posted: Apr 20, 2015

Pleasant kitschy waterfront cottage, much better/larger than the photographs would indicate. We had a short, but great, stay in Haines. The cottage is centrally located so you can walk everywhere in town. There are no laundry facilities but that wouldn't stop us from staying here again.

overall the place was nice. The only thing was the smell when we came in and the hot water... We were a bit disappointed that it was not a wood fire place but your fireplace was romantic... the view was wonderful and it was quiet. It is a very nice cottage and it was clean. I would recommend this place to friends...

Cozy Place!

The Attic is in a good location in town with a nice view. Short walk to museums and shops. The Attic has every thing you need.

View like no other!!! A++++++++++++++++

Greg went out of his way to see I had every need met. This is a place to go and enjoy peace and quiet. Yet is close enough to town to get the things you need. I would easily give it a 5 star + for comfort and relaxation!

Quiet, good location, clean

Posted: Jan 30, 2015

We enjoyed our stay at the Cottage. Very clean and private, with a nice view. The owner was very nice and worked hard to fix the hot water and to make our stay comfortable. To make it more suitable for the advertised 4, I suggest adding a closet, armoire, dresser, or inside hooks for the folks staying on the living room couch, which mattress also not very comfortable, even placed on the floor. I also suggest more and warmer blankets for those who don't like sleeping with the heat on high. Overall, very satisfied, thank you!

Our stay was wonderful. The apartment was perfect and Greg was a perfect host. I would stay there again.

The Cottage was perfect place to stay and enjoyed our weekend.

Liked everything about our stay!

Posted: Oct 29, 2014

We really liked everything about our stay! The bed was comfortable and he area was lovely. We were able to access everything we needed to cook a delicious turkey dinner. The only feedback we can give is that the hot water ran out after two showers and we needed to wait for the third (not a huge deal) and we'd love it if they would allow our dog to stay with us as this makes the logistics much easier (but also understand that all dogs are not as well behaved as ours!) I'm sure we'll stay again in the future!

a great location!

Posted: Oct 29, 2014

We had a great time and consider The Attic a great location and accommodation. We had a very enjoyable holiday !

a lovely place to stay!

Posted: Oct 29, 2014

The Cottage is lovely. Very nice, comfortable and private place to stay. It is very nice having a kitchen. The wifi was working well. Gorgeous view, comfortable living area, etc. Love the table and cozy carpet. TV works great.

Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for the Alaskan experience

We really enjoyed this cabin, it had all the amenities that we were expecting and went above and beyond in how it was prepared for us. We made Thanksgiving dinner there and it was really nice to have the full kitchen setup, especially with all the cutlery, plates, bowls, etc and the dinner went perfectly. Sitting out on the deck in the mornings with a cup of coffee, overlooking the ocean and mountains was spectacular, especially once the clouds cleared up and the glacier was in full view, that was amazing. Each morning we were also greeted with views of whales, seals and porpoises, also more eagles than we could count. There really wasn't anything that could have been better or improved, it seems like the owners have thought of everything that guests would need. I liked that it was already stocked with things to do in the evenings such as games, movies, local reading materials, I read the biography of Chuck West which I found was very interesting. Definitely stay again in the future.

We loved staying here

Posted: Sep 26, 2014

We were challenged a bit to locate the place, but what a find! A cute little cottage recently remodeled with exposed log beams in the living room, a dining area, kitchen wall, nice bedroom with a very comfy bed, and little bathroom. The view from the living room is of the inlet with water and jagged snow-capped mountains in the background. We loved staying here. The burly bearded neighbor is a kick! Get him talking about the history, and he won't stop!

What a wonderful place to stay!

Posted: Sep 26, 2014

What a wonderful place to stay! Spacious and clean accommodations. Close to the water, the ferry dock and to town (Haines). A fantastic view of the canal which is great for whale watching. You will see eagles everywhere. John and Suzanne are such friendly people! I can't wait to return!

Best stocked vacation rental we have experienced

Posted: Sep 26, 2014

My husband and I stayed at Paradise West for two weeks recently and it was a perfect vacation! The house is the best stocked vacation rental we have experienced. The cabin was private and remote but also close enough to town, hiking trails and other activities so we did not feel secluded at all.

It was everything and more that we had hoped for

Posted: Sep 26, 2014

We traveled all the way from the UK to this wonderful cabin. It was everything and more that we had hoped for. From the sofa we were able to watch whales, porpoises and bald eagles. The cabin was extremely comfortable and very well equipped - there was nothing that we needed. Just amazing!

This place was a great

Posted: Sep 26, 2014

This place was a great vacation rental. I would DEFINITELY recommend this rental property for anyone interested in a sweet, serene, but accessible Haines vacation.

Our stay was wonderful.

Our stay was wonderful. The view of Rainbow Glacier was great. I wish I could have met Chuck West. He must have been quite a character. Thank you!

We loved the cabin.

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

Thank you for letting us enjoy this view for a few days. We loved the cabin. You've done a great job stocking it with everything we needed. We really enjoyed the deck, looking out at the glacier and even spotted a porpoise. Our friends couldn't believe we got so lucky with this cabin. We hope to come back soon!

You just have see it to believe it!

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

We had a wonderful time at Paradise West! I can't think of a word that does justice in trying to describe the view looking out at the glaciers from the living room window. You just have see it to believe it!

Fabulous location, clean, tidy and well equipped.

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

Great amenities, although laundry facilities would be a welcome addition, fabulous location, clean, tidy and well equipped. The owners, John and Suzanne, couldn't have been nicer. Would definitely recommend this rental, although need a car as it's a couple of miles out of town. If more than two people, need to be aware that the bathroom is an en-suite to the main bedroom.

Clean and convenient.

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

The apartment was well stocked with dishes, DVDs. The living area looked over the Lynn Canal. Everything was as described in the listing. It was clean and convenient. The owner checked in to make sure everything was all right.

Very friendly host

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

Nice basement apartment close enough to town to get there in no time, but far enough away to feel secluded. We enjoyed the views of the mountains across the Chilkat while sitting on the lawn next to a fire. Very friendly host who helped provide some great information on fishing and other recreational activities.

Cozy place.

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

Comfortable cozy place away from home with beautiful view of glaciers and mountains. We had a few kitchen facilities so we were able to cook some of our own meals. Short distance to town and most attractions including hiking trails. Had wifi but no tv but owner has good selection of movies to watch. Good place to relax and unwind for a couple of days.

Wonderful accommodations!

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

What wonderful accommodations you have. Your dogs were too well trained to come inside for a visit despite my invitations to do so, but I think the rooster and goat might have waltzed inside if I had left the door open a few more seconds. The surprise was the great selection of DVD's to watch. Thanks again.

Highly recommended!

We spent three nights at The Cottage. It was clean and comfortable and the living area had a beautiful view over the water. The kitchen was fully equipped. Haines is a lovely town with some great walks and drives and we wished we'd been able to stay longer. Highly recommended.

Amazing view from the deck!

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

The most amazing part of our stay at the cottage was the view from the deck, overlooking the bay and mountains in the distance. We enjoyed watching the cruise ships cruise by on their way to other larger ports. Only one smaller cruise ship comes into Haines on Wednesdays, which adds to the towns charm. Also enjoyed seeing whales in the bay from the cottage. The cottage was clean with a well equipped kitchen. We rode off the Alaska State Ferry with our bicycles and it was easy to see the town with bicycles, and the downtown location of the cottage is convenient. The owner of the cottage was very helpful and accommodating with all our needs and questions. We'll hopefully be able to come back to Haines and the cottage some day!

Couldn't have asked for more!

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

Walking distance to everything. Amazing views from back porch. Nice comfortable interior with full kitchen for us to cook the fish we caught. Couldn't have asked for more.

Clean and with amazing view.

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

We were pleasantly surprised how awesome the cottage was, it was clean and with amazing view. It was recommended to us so we will recommend it to anyone who will travel that way. I wouldn't recommend it to people with pets as some people have allergies like us. The cottage is not an ideal with people with more advance disabilities, no access for wheelchairs.

The location, cleanliness and amenities were fantastic!

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

My stay at The Attic was great. The location, cleanliness and amenities were fantastic. There were multiple times during our stay that my wife or I was pleasantly surprised to find extras available that normally are not found in hotels. My daughter wanted to stay longer. The next time we are in Haines, I won't look anywhere but The Attic for a place to stay.

The Attic was perfect

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

Thank you for all your help getting to and finding the Attic when we arrived in Haines late at night. We ended up having a wonderful time there. The Attic was perfect. We enjoyed exploring Haines very much. Thanks again.

We love the location and the privacy and the views

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

We thoroughly liked the stay at the attic. We have stayed on three previous occasions. We love the location and the privacy and the views. All things aside it was an excellent stay and we are looking forward to our next stay in 2015

We loved our stay at the Attic.

Posted: Sep 18, 2014

We loved our stay at the Attic. It was central to all of our activities and the accommodations were excellent. There was a magnificent view from all the windows and the kitchen was well equipped. Being above a business was also good as it was very quiet at night. I would recommend the Attic to anyone visiting Haines, AK. If we ever get a chance to travel to Haines again, the Attic will be our first choice. I also want to thank the booking agent, Reservations By Randa. She also booked our ferryboat connections between Juneau and Haines.

We absolutely loved Paradise West. It was EXACTLY what we were looking and hoping for. It was stocked with everything and more than we needed, the beds were SO comfy, the view is spectacular. We loved getting water from the spring and having fires on the beach. It was also very neat to learn about Chuck West and how Paradise West came to be. Paradise West was the perfect end to our Northern holiday.

Touchstone Family at Paradise West

Posted: Aug 30, 2014

This was the most perfect place for us as a family to stay. We lived there several years ago and were excited to know the cabin was formally owned by Mr. Chuck West, a true Last Frontier Alaskan. Every detail of this cabin was perfect. The view, the master bedroom, etc. for us. Access to the beach .... access to trails ... the wildlife not only visible but those heard with their chatter or calls and their prints in the dirt .... We could have stayed there longer. Mr. West's book, MR ALASKA was another wonderful read to enjoy. I felt his character jump out of this well written book. We met him briefly at a tourism meeting in Haines when we first moved to Haines in 1989. I knew he was of a greatness then, but now understand 'how' great his influence and goodness were for this Last Frontier. We are still reliving our stay and were blessed with the most perfect weather. Many thanks to the West Family for allowing this place in space to be available to others. Peggy/Kirt Touchstone

We truly enjoyed our time at Su Casa. Tom and Caroline were very gracious and we certainly appreciated all the information they provided. The apartment was excellent in every way. I would sincerely recommend these accommodations to anyone planning a stay in Haines. Thanks for everything

Posted: Aug 14, 2014

The apartment was spacious and super-clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was very helpful to our budget to have a kitchen we could cook our meals in. The views are absolutely wonderful, and so was the beach access and the little trail into the woods behind the house.

Great stay at a lovely place! Highly recommended!

Posted: Aug 7, 2014

Owner Greg Podsiki and family were great hosts helping out with questions and needs. This is a one bedroom apartment with a living room, bath, and cooking options. It was clean, comfy, with a killer view of the water and glaciers. It does not get much better than this!

All was good for our stay.
