The second night it was flurrying, so it was such a fun experience being cozy and warm in the water with the cold snow showering down on us. Thanks for making this much needed getaway possible! The shops and restaurants are so charming, and the oriole is located walking distance to the heart of downtown. Very clean, organized, and accommodating all around.

We loved the hot tub in the evenings! I reached out to the management company when we arrived about a parking question and they were quick to get back to me. The first morning we could hear the people above us moving around over our bedrooms, other than that, it was very quiet throughout our stay.

Loved the Lucky Lucy! Posted: Oct 6, 2023 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lucky Lucy. It was decorated and furnished nicely. Bedding, pillows and linens were great. It was clean and had everything we needed to cook if we wanted to. It is a short 10 minute-ish walk to get to restaurants and shopping. The only thing I would change would be the bed as it is a bit uncomfortable and dips in the middle but that would not deter me from coming back. Overall and great place and Saugatuck is amazing!

A Perfect Place Posted: Sep 16, 2023 This was our first time renting a house instead of staying in a hotel, and it was wonderful! The view was great, the neighborhood was very peaceful, and the interior of the cottage was very nice. This place is best for 2 people. (There were only 2 chairs at the kitchen table, etc). We appreciated the box fans (white noise to sleep to), fancy mattress, dishwasher, comfy couch, smart tv, gas fireplace, and plenty of towels and other supplies. One thing to keep in mind is that in the fall, acorns occasionally drop on the metal roof, so maybe bring earplugs for sleeping if you're sensitive to noise. It also would have been nice to have a dresser or something in the bedroom, but we hung up our clothes in the closet and kept our socks and undies in the suitcase on the stand at the end of the bed, so it worked out fine. Adding curtains would help with feelings of privacy, but you can't see the neighbors from the windows anyway. We would definitely stay here again!!!

My Wife has a phobia when it comes to cleanliness and she was extremely satisfied, she loved all the white linen to her white accessories are very important and she was very impressed. Comfortable lodging in a great location Posted: Sep 13, 2023 Wally´s Annex was clean and comfortable. The living/dining room is spacious and the rest of the rooms are compact but very functional. The TV and WiFi both worked well and the bed was comfortable . There is limited space between the bed and wall on one side . It was very quiet when we were there but if the open west side of Sienna Cafe was filled with people, it could be noisy. One of this place´s best features is its location which is near the water front and within easy walking distance of the stores and restaurants.

The location is great, just a few steps from town but in a quiet neighborhood. Parking was a little tight, there was a reserved spot, but 3 big SUVs in the driveway made access somewhat difficult. The table and chairs out front had a great view of a Ford Explorer fender.

Great stay @ The Blue Whale! Posted: Jul 24, 2023 Everything was as expected. The house was clean & nicely decorated. The bedrooms were all nice with comfortable beds. The master bath was nice with a walk in shower. The second bathroom was fine except the bathtub made into a shower felt claustrophobic with the shower curtain all the way around the tub. And nowhere to put your shampoo or soap. The front porch with 4 rockers and 2 additional chairs was perfect for our group of 5. Very comfortable house with lots of hooks & cubbies to put your things. Easy 10 minute walk to town with very manageable up-hill climb returning to house. The instructions for checking out were fine but we did feel the garbage could be taken care of by the clean up crew. Definitely recommend this cute house & would rent again without hesitation!

Perfect location Posted: Jul 21, 2023 Saugatuck is where you go to "feel summer", and this place is perfect for location. Its right on Water Street and Hoffman, and absolutely everything you want to see starts just as you leave your door! In my opinion, one can stay outside of town to save a few dollars but you'll have to drive in, go through a lot of waiting to find a parking space, not have easy bathroom access or a place to nap while awaiting the nightlife -- or -- just pay a little more for a fantastic apartment where you park once and enjoy all the town has to offer. This is a second floor apartment and it is just right for two people. Everything you need is there (plenty of towels for like, 12 people), and if you don't want to bother making coffee in the morning just go downstairs out the front door and within 60 seconds you can be at any one of four coffee/breakfast shops. Everything you need to see is an easy walk. The host has excellent communication, and the unit is super clean.

The Hummingbird Cottage, Saugatuck, MI Posted: Jul 20, 2023 The cottage was absolutely ideal for us as our friends were almost across the street in the their condo. I truly didn't realize that it was a 2 storey unit, possibly from the photos, but our major challenge was that the bathroom and bedroom were a floor apart. We are 83 and 76 and without going into detail, it was a bit stressful for us. The only other challenge was just the one closet which was also downstairs. We found the cottage immaculate, the bedroom, AC very satisfactory and the kitchen had all the appliances, etc. that we needed. Thank you. We will be back to a one floor unit going forward. This lake town should be the envy of any lake town. We really enjoyed ourselves and your accommodation. Mary and Dick Canada. I just relook at your site. It explains everything very well. It was completely my mistake for not noticing the floor plan. I think I was just so excited that you were able to accommodate us. Please resubmit my note. Again it was a pleasure!

Perfect for a Family Vacation Posted: Jul 19, 2023 We stayed at the Farmhouse for the 4th of July week and it was a BLAST! The home is central to downtown, restaurants, shops, the park, etc. At any given time, there were around 7 of us staying in the farmhouse- it was so spacious and comfortable that we didn't feel like we were on top of one another. We spent a lot of time out on the covered porch (yay, no mosquito bites!) playing games and visiting. We would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a cozy, spacious, and central spot to stay while visiting Saugatuck!

Great Saugatuck Cottage! Posted: Jul 4, 2023 My family of five stayed here for three nights and it was perfect. The cottage is very clean and spacious, and the location was perfect. We loved being able to walk downtown so easily. We also enjoyed the screened-in porch. My one suggestion is that power strips/extension cords be added to the master bedroom - it was impossible to reach the outlets behind the bed.

The home was immaculate as usual and feels like home. One small glitch with the smoke/co detector was fixed immediately and that was most appreciated. Thank you Ethan! Weather be darned... Posted: Jun 20, 2023 Despite a very unseasonably cold, windy & grey week - we had the best time in Saugatuck! The Swallow accommodations worked great for our family of 6. The cottage was super clean and had everything we needed and space to spread out. This was our first family vacation since the arrival of our first grandchild so time together was the top priority. We enjoyed the shopping & dining and tried all the major spots...our best dinner was at Everyday People's Cafe - 6 different and delectable meals all prepared to perfection - plus a melt-in-your-mouth tuna tar-tar starter. The kitchen at the Swallow was well-equipped, but with all of the amazing restaurants, we didn't use it much! With the cool temps, the hot tub was a nice way to wind down after all of the walking & shopping each day. Highly recommend a stay at the Swallow - great location to enjoy a fun town with family & friends of all ages.

Great little getaway. Posted: Jun 19, 2023 The Oriole was a very cozy little cabin to spend our long weekend getaway. Very clean and accommodating. My wife and I had never been to Saugatuck, however we were very happy to have visited. The only things I would mention are very minor but simple things that I think could improve the stay. It would have been nice to have a simple bottle of hand soap. The hot-tub was missing the headrests making relaxing…a little less relaxing (hard plastic with the cutout for headrests). I wasn’t aware that we were basically 10 feet away from other rentals, the fence could be extended so that we weren’t looking into the neighbors bedroom window while in the hot tub (arms reach away). Really not much at all to complain about though, we had a great time and we’re very happy with the rental.

Family Weekend Posted: Jun 5, 2023 The house was great and super clean and walking distance to town which was fantastic. The only downside which was avoidable and really startling was the sap that fell on our cars. Our cars were covered in sap when we woke up the first morning and luckily after going to a couple car washes they were able to get the sap removed. I would let folks know. We have a new Tesla and my husband decided it was best to park up the street and I parked my car at the end of the driveway to avoid as much sap as possible.

That was especially nice since our group hadn't all been together for 10 years. The rooms delightfully decorated and provided many seating areas. “Two Bedroom” accommodations Posted: May 15, 2023 My three star rating reflects advertised two bedroom accommodations. The second bedroom is a Sunroom with a bed. There are no window coverings on the abundant windows. There is no closet for hanging clothes, and you have to walk through the master bedroom to get to the bery small bathroom. Wonderful outside area, with lots of wildlife viewing.

Lovely Place! Posted: May 12, 2023 We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at the Blue Orchid. The layout of the condo was a bit strange, with only two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first level. If you have elderly staying with you, the stairs might be an issue to get to the kitchen/living room. Very clean, good location. I got my deposit back very quickly. Will use again if in the area!

Quiet time in the woods Posted: May 4, 2023 We loved staying at Naples North. My parents looked like the belonged here, in the big easy chair or the sunny deck with red wicker chairs. The master suite was great for them too. The location was good - easy access to Saugatuck and Holland, Grand Rapids and even a swing to Chicago. The woods surrounding the house were lovely and quiet and the hot tub in the back under the stars, divine. Leslie

A gem of a cottage in a lovely lake town! Posted: May 4, 2023 Four Generations cottage was a fantastic location for our weekend getaway. This was our base for visiting the spring tulips of the area, but it would also make a wonderful lake vacation. (We are already making plans for the latter.) The cottage is within walking distance of central Saugatuck which is well stocked with great shops and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and are looking forward to a return visit!

The amenities were high end which made the cottage comfortable. If you are looking for outdoor space there wasn’t any for this until so maybe look into other cottages this host offers.

Our teenagers enjoyed walking to their favorite coffee shops and stores. You have a water view out of about every window, and the property is very close to the water's edge. The beds were very comfortable as was the large couch, where we streamed Hulu movies each evening. So much to do! Walking distance to many restaurants and unique shops, as well as a short drive to hiking trails and Holland Michigan. We definately want to come back and re explore the area in warmer weather.

Great little find, great location ... Posted: Oct 19, 2022 We had a fabulous time in Saugatuck. The Hummingbird was ideal for 2 people. A cosy space and ideal location. 10 minute walk onto the main shopping street or 2 minutes drive. Peaceful area and street in the evening. Felt safe too. Saugatuck has so much to offer and is stunning in so many ways. Great location for exploring the area although loads to do within 10 minutes too. Good access to the Interstate and main highways. The house is well cared for and clean and tidy. Couple of downsides ... Bathroom and toilet downstairs, adjacent to the kitchen whilst the bedroom and lounge is upstairs. No outside space to use which we imagine would be a bonus in the summer months, we were Autumn (Fall) visitors from the UK. No AC but fans provided. We would definitely return to the area and Hummingbird if there was only the two of us.

Posted: Oct 16, 2022 We loved staying at The Oriole. The location was perfect and we enjoyed walking into town. The cottage was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. WiFI signals were weak and spotty though and the tv would go in and out or keep spinning. We would definitely love to visit The Oriole again.

The only reason I'd rate it as a 4.5 is because we had issues with locking the exterior doors our first night there. However, to our host's credit, as soon as we communicated the issues they were quick to come the next day and help us lock them/ informed us they are in the midst of replacing them.

The house itself is lovely, and the owners do a fantastic job of seasonal decorations. The real star is being right at water's edge on Kalamazoo Lake, with fantastic views of sunrise and sunset.

Farm House Charm Posted: Aug 22, 2022 We enjoyed our stay with family at Saugatuck farmhouse. Our children and grandchildren really enjoyed the pool table and hot tub. It is an easy walking distance to restaurants and shops. The house was perfect for our family. We had one concern and the response was prompt and professionally handled. We would definitely stay with Ethan's properties again if in the area.

The Nightingale cottage Posted: Aug 9, 2022 The cottage space was very clean, well kept and cozy and a perfect spot to come back to after a day at the beach or a stroll downtown. The proximity to downtown was one of the nice highlights of our stay. The only con was that we stayed during the Venetian Festival and it was LOUD. We could hear people partying downtown and in the cabins behind us until the wee hours of the morning. I would stay here again in a heartbeat during the week or a normal weekend, but might think twice during any festivals/parties downtown.

The hot tub is difficult to get in and out of for the older folks. There is not a bathroom on the upper level where the queen size bunk beds are, but an amazing setting for campfires.

Perfect Saugatuck Getaway Posted: Jul 20, 2022 We had the perfect week at the Lake Trail Treehouse! The home itself is beautiful, spacious, and very well appointed! The pool and hot tub are both fabulous, we spent most of the week there! We had a few kids with us, and the water areas are properly secured for preliminary layers of protection which helped us feel at ease as well. Truly, the only bad thing was that we actually did have to leave, but we will absolutely be back :)

Perfect Place Posted: Jul 2, 2022 Three couples stayed for a 40th birthday celebration. Perfect place for us. Walking distance to retail area and river access. Short distance to Lake Michigan. Music in the park with DORA (social outdoor drinking area). Dune buggy ride three minutes away by car. Walked to dinner and drinks every night and had night caps on the screened in porch. Hot tub fits four comfortable and six if you are ok with legs touching. Place was clean and lots of towels. We were pleasantly surprised that the house is nicer than the pictures show (which is almost never the case). House is old, but lives new with a great remodel throughout. Love this place and recommend. Well worth the price. Saugatuk is a little gem and this house is wonderful.

The house was clean, modern, comfortable and convenient. We were within 5-10 minutes from most things we wanted to do and good restaurants, but it felt secluded and private as well. We loved walking around the area and walking down to the little lake. We had a couple issues that were fixed promptly and staff was communicative and kind. We would definitely stay here again!

The hot tub was clean and perfect since the weather was still a little chilly. The only issue we had was that the furnace was not working the first night and it was pretty cold.I called it in and there was a heating repair person there first thing the next morning. They got it working and all was good! I appreciate the quick response. We will definitely rent again!

What an amazing home Posted: May 13, 2022 We rented this home to attend a wedding in nearby Holland. This home was absolutely beautiful and the sunset view from the lake was astounding. The neighbor was a wealth of knowledge for us. The hot tub has the best jets ever and the walk in showers were awesome! The pool table and video games were a hoot for the adults and we all became kids again while playing. We grilled outside, had an awesome fire, and sang to the top of our lungs (amazing acoustics in this place so bring your guitar!!). A bit pricey for less than 48 hours access but well worth the stay.

Great Location, Very Clean, but Loud Posted: Apr 3, 2022 The condo was really pretty and immaculately clean. Location is perfect for walking downtown, including a fantastic used book store. The bed was very comfortable. The only issue we had was the person staying upstairs walked around quite heavily alot, and played music very loudly until midnight. My only suggestions are maybe a small tv in the bedroom. And I would recommend parking in the street because getting out of the designated spot can be a little tricky. But since there is plenty of street parking right there that was no big deal at all.

Great house with lots of room for many guests Posted: Mar 11, 2022 As a group, we have stayed in this house multiple times and always loved it. My only grievance would be that this time there were no coffee filters or basic cooking supplies like non-stick spray, salt, pepper or oil. I realize Covid was a concern in 2020 but I don't think those items need to be thrown out between each guests now in 2022. Overall though, great house.

Review Posted: Feb 10, 2022 We absolutely loved the cabin! It was so spacious, had a wonderful kitchen and living room. The beds were very comfortable and so was the couch! The hot tub was also a great thing to have in the winter since much wasn’t open in town. It’s a great place to go relax and get away from job/home stress! Only thing I would recommend is some oven mits and sponges for the kitchen.

The cottage was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with towels and kitchen supplies. We loved having a hot tub just steps from our front door with all of the snow that we got during our stay! But the best part of all was having our walkway and driveway shoveled each day to make getting to and from the cottage a breeze! We can’t wait to come back when the weather is warmer.

The front burner on the stove did not light but we managed well. We'd have liked a Christmas tree. The being together of our family was a joy and blessing, we cooked together, had a pool tournament, walked in the woods and the beach, we said in 2 years we'd like to all meet together. PS a large wooden cutting board would be a nice addition

The refrigerator was a real convenience and, although we didn't use the stove, it was good to know it was there if we chose to use it. I particularly like that it was walking distance to downtown. I got my husband to walk to dinner a couple of times, and he doesn't walk anywhere at home! The only "thumbs down" is having the bed shoved against the wall. I understand that the layout of the apartment requires it, but it made it very inconvenient for one partner (namely, ME) to get in and out of bed. Thank you. Truly zen Posted: Aug 8, 2021 Wind whispering through the pines. Dragonflies wishing you good morning. A splash from a fish. Birds in conversation. This cottage is the perfect getaway to reconnect, restore, and revive. The only issue is that the air conditioner is located in the bedroom. You can use the provided box fans to blow the cool air into the living room, but if someone is sleeping with the door closed, that’s not possible. This didn’t bother us too much, except that the fans are loud, and anti-zen. The owner could install a powered vent between the rooms, which would solve this problem. (We have a similar issue in our house, and the vent works.)

Great stay in a great location Posted: Aug 6, 2021 This home was so clean upon arrival I was truly impressed. The covid precautions made me feel very safe. The home is a great size for our small family. The location is perfect with a quick walk to downtown and short drives anywhere else you need. The house was very well organized with easy to understand instructions. The WiFi was slow/spotty but that seemed to be the case everywhere in Saugatuck. Beds and couch were very comfortable and the bathroom was much roomier than I had envisioned. The owner promptly answered any questions I had prior to arrival and was very helpful. We will definitely stay here again!

We used the kitchen for most of the meals but were only a ten minute walk from food establishments and shopping. The screened-in porch was a fabulous place to hang out. Beautiful property Posted: May 21, 2021 The house itself was absolutely gorgeous. It was a nice open space with plenty of room for a large group to gather. The town is cute and not far from Saugatuk and Oval Beach. Unfortunately while it does say beach access, the stairs that are supposed to lead to the beach are broken and unusable, so really there is no beach access because all other stairs are private and locked. That was kind of a bummer because it was one of the main selling points of booking this property. The hot tub was also broken, but the management company was extremely responsive and great about trying to get it fixed. All in all, the house itself was great just doesn't have beach access as advertised. It may help to label the light switches as well. While it was not a major inconvenience, it was a source of frustration trying to figure out which one does what.

One night I cooked a pretty involved meal for a friend who lives nearby and was impressed with all the pots, pans, platters, etc., available. We biked to the state park and made the short hike to the water. It was gorgeous. Loved the house, location, and sweet little city of Saugatuck.

This time, my emails were found later in the owner's "spam folder" and once we figured that out, the communication was seamless. I'd recommend the property manager to check in on guest after they check in. Also, guests may follow up to their email with a phone call or text - owner very responsive! We had a nice time and look forward to coming back.

Main stay cottage Posted: Apr 5, 2021 Ethan’s ranch home was the perfect relaxing family getaway. Decor was simple and thoughtful. Bathrooms were clean, and I was pleasantly surprised how the well stocked towels. You must read the laminated rules of Ethan’s home on day one or before arrival. It’ll be nice to return next year knowing his place will remain well maintained. We liked the hammock, hot tub, covered fire pit, and public tennis and basketball hoops in the back.

I was very impressed with how well the kitchen was stocked, it had everything we needed to cook all of our meals at home. Perfect, quiet location on the hill and just a quick walk to downtown Saugatuck. The fireplace provided cozy warmth during the chilly evenings. Overall the home was very clean and comfortable - will definitely stay here again. Would love to take advantage of the screened in porch during the warmer months!

The only reason I couldn’t give it 5 stars is because the duck and geese droppings covered the dock consistently. I would recommend that the docks be cleaned regularly to remove the loads of droppings from the docks. It was quite disgusting at times.

Like many rentals, home furniture is a little worn, but the space for large groups and beauty of this place makes up for it. Only down side is we not only had to strip all the beds, but take all laundry up to laundry room, all trash out, plus there were no spices, oils, plastic wrap, etc of kitchen basics at all! So for the hefty price tag we feel the sheets should be left( especially with COvid and having to bring our own blankets)and a few basic kitchen items available. Beds were ok, not great. Home is awesome for large groups and is in a great location to nearby activities such as Saugatuck, Crane Orchards, Holland!

Fall Getaway in Saugatuck Posted: Oct 7, 2020 My boyfriend and I had a little getaway to Saugatuck and booked Lucky Lucy. We could not have been MORE pleased with the cottage! It was the perfect amount of space for 2 people - even though it's a smaller space, I was especially impressed with the couch/living area. We spent some time each night watching movies and it was very comfortable and cozy. The kitchen has everything you need, the bathroom was stocked with more than enough towels, and the hot tub outside was another very cool thing we enjoyed as well. Great place!

Pleasant getaway Posted: Aug 25, 2020 Overall good experience at Naples North! Tucked away on 4 acres with activities like volleyball, basketball and hot tub. Games like pool table and Ms Pac-man arcade. Toys for smaller kids to play with also. Easy access to Saugatuck and Holland Breweries. View of beach from porch across street from house. Was able to go to public beaches in the area within 5-10 miles. It was a nice few days away! Thank you!

It was spotless upon our arrival and they had good COVID guidelines in place. The screened in porch and hot tub made an already beautiful outside experience even more comfortable and fun. The mattress is firm, but I like that so it didn't bother me. Would definitely stay here again!

Amazing location! Posted: Aug 23, 2020 We really enjoyed our stay! Very close to Saugatuck downtown and few steps to Douglas downtown. Just 10 minutes drive to Oval beach. We could rent pontoon from the dock just 5 minutes walking from us. Very comfortable for large family. Clean and neat place, very well decorated. The only thing be prepared for bugs, bring lots of bug spray as the place if right on the water!!

Studio close to town Posted: Aug 17, 2020 Walking into this studio I was impressed at the clean nouveau country style. There’s a queen sized memory bed and a pull out couch. Of the two, the couch was the most comfortable. The kitchen came with all the necessities. The bathroom was a fair size. All was newer and clean. The only downside is no sample soap. I’m glad I had brought a full-sized bar but an extra soap bar would have been nice for the sink. It was definitely centrally located to where we were headed and walking downtown was a breeze.

There was plenty of room for eating (indoors and out), sleeping, cooking and chilling. We spent most of our time on the front porch or back patio. It was wonderful being a couple blocks from town so we could walk to all the shops and restaurants and not have to worry about finding parking. The kitchen was well stocked and provided everything we needed to cook all our meals. Would definitely stay there again.

great views and quiet escape Posted: Jul 5, 2020 Blue Zen was a perfect retreat for the two of us to have a few days of rest. It is off-the-beaten path and surrounded mostly by woods and a quiet part of the Kalamazoo river. All we heard day and night were birds and the occasional quarreling squirrels. Although it feels isolated, it is a short drive from Saugatuck, Douglas, and Holland. The cottage was immaculately clean, the bed comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our food. The only down-side of the cottage is that it is very small. However, other than a small bathroom with a minuscule shower, the size of the place is fine for two people. If you bring more people, anyone staying at the second bedroom has to walk through the main bedroom to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night -- otherwise must walk out of the house and re-enter by the living room, not an easy task. Check in is a bit late at 4 pm. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay there and will consider going back there for another get away.

We enjoyed being able to walk downtown for dinner and drinks and walk back to soak in the private hot tub. We appreciated that the Oriole was clean and it was clear that the owners were talking COVID precautions. We would definitely return to the Oriole or another Bird Center property in the future.

All of the bedding was so impeccably clean and the setup was conducive to relaxation. Both my friend and I work long hours during the work week and we feel rejuvenated by our stay. We loved our short walk to downtown Saugatuck and the hot tub was an added bonus. The hot tub was very clean and felt so private. We hope to return very soon.

511 is a Piece of Heaven in Beautiful Saugatuck Posted: Feb 29, 2020 Do yourself a huge favor and use the 511 as your chosen place to reside! Additionally if you have multiple folk in your party (there are three fantastic bedrooms), try and snag the master bedroom with its equally lovely bathroom and glorious shower, and a door that leads directly to the luxurious hot tub which at 104 degrees feels lovely even on the 30 degree eve in which we indulged ourselves! There is also a beautiful kitchen, with a microwave and dish washer fully stocked with all your needs for cooking. Also, the 511 is about only 10 miles from Holland, which has a Meijer and Wal-Mart and is also a great town to visit when in MI! But if you prefer to stay close to Saugatuck, the 511 is also merely minutes from all the charming shops and restaurants downtown, and a very quick drive to the beautiful beaches! The 511 also provides a large TV with Netflix and Amazon, and many many wonderful books, if you prefer staying in and relaxing! Enjoy! We sure did!

It's within walking distance to all the nice shops, restaurants and sights in Saugatuck. The cottage was very clean, the bed was comfortable and firm, the Wi-Fi worked, the heat definitely worked, the shower was nice and the hot tub was very relaxing. Make sure to pack some tea bags and coffee grounds as those are not provided. I'd stay here again and recommend it.

Wonderful place! Posted: Jan 25, 2020 This is a fun, little space from which to launch your Saugatuck adventure. Super clean, nicely decorated, and has most of what you'd need for making basic meals. The queen-size bed was a bit too soft for our backs, but was not a real problem. In the winter, guests should be prepared to shovel their own snow. A couple of wine glasses and a tea kettle in the kitchen would be helpful additions. But we used the coffee cups for our wine and did just fine! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

fall weekend in Saugatuck Posted: Nov 22, 2019 Mermaid Cove was a great home base for a weekend away from Chicago. The house was warm and had everything we could need- a well stocked kitchen was very helpful. We used the living room fire place all weekend- easy and toasty! Seeing the sunrise and the sunsets from the house and the porch were a treat each day. We had a few issues with the front door not locking, and the door in the middle guest room not able to shut (due to the furniture placement), but nothing that would prevent us from recommending Mermaid Cove, and coming back- thank you, Ethan, for being responsive when we had questions.

It has recently been updated and looks great. The only thing it needs is a chest of drawers in the bedrooms to put your clothes and towel racks in the bathrooms. Otherwise, we enjoy our stay each year and the fact we can bring our dog is wonderful. I would recommend it to everyone.

The only downside was that the private beach access was not available this year due to how high the water is (which is no fault of the owners), but I do wish we were aware of this before arriving so we could have more adequately planned for that. We still had a wonderful time in the sun and I would recommend to anyone visiting the area!

A couple of mirrors in the bedrooms would have been useful. We had a bit of a problem with the temperature controls. It suddenly went back to 69 degrees all the time! The bathroom is a bit small with only one sink. But our experience overall was excellent. Thank you.

There were plenty of eating space and chairs and the beds very comfortable. The queen bunk beds can be dangerous for little kids though. The kitchen lighting was dark but other than that the house was really nice.

Beautiful couples retreat Posted: Jun 1, 2019 My boyfriend and I came here for a weekend to visit Saugatuck and do a wine tour in southern MI. The house is soo cozy and charmingly decorated. It has amazing views thanks to the floor to ceiling windows in the living room, an up to date kitchen, cozy bedroom, and really everything we needed! One of the bedrooms doesn’t have blinds on the windows (on every wall) which would probably scare me at night, but the other bedroom was perfect. Would definitely recommend to any couples!!

This stunning home is not only spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean and well located, the mid century modern furniture and fully stocked kitchen are a serious competition for the natural beauties of the Saugatuck-Douglas area. Every amenity is here, along with a wonderful selection of cookbooks. A short walk takes you to downtown Saugatuck or to a beautiful, secluded marsh. Or stay home and grill on the backyard deck before soaking in the hot tub in the moonlight. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely home - its three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms made it perfect for a relaxed, long weekend with friends. Don't miss the Saugatuck Dunes State Park - a hike through the quiet green forest brings you to the sparkling waters of Lake Michigan and miles of pristine beaches.

Cozy space close to town Posted: Apr 19, 2019 Loved the location and the amenities! This cozy cabin is just a few minutes walk from downtown shopping, dining and entertainment. Layout was comfortable and made good use of available space to create a nice HQ for our weekend adventure. It's a studio setup with a bed, large kitchenette, and bathroom laid out on one floor in a straight line. The outdoor living space was large and included comfy couches in a screened porch. Just past that was a hot tub that easily accommodated two people, heated quickly, and held the temp even when sitting in it on a 40 degree night (fun!). Privacy was mostly not an issue with the exception of a window in the neighboring cabin that looked directly into the hot tub area and the uncovered window on the front door of the cabin. We couldn't figure out how to turn on the kitchen lights, but it wasn't that big of a deal. TV worked great with built in apps for internet streaming (logout of your Netflix account before you leave!) Bathroom was small but adequate

Wonderful respite! Posted: Apr 7, 2019 I can’t say enough great things about this place, it was just “us.” You can tell this is someone’s home, not just a space filled with ikea furnishings. Everything was really high quality from linens to dishes to the fab mid mid furniture. And the bookshelves!!! Great collection of art books, cooking, etc. we didn’t take advantage of the hot tub, but it seemed a nice add. Only thing missing was a fire pit!

We especially enjoyed relaxing in the cozy couches around the fireplace, cooking in the well appointed kitchen, using the hot tub, and playing shuffle board and pool. It is in a peaceful/private location and just a quick trip to downtown Saugatuck. This place is can't miss!

The cleaning fee is a bit steep considering all that guests are required to do before leaving. Because the Hummingbird is in a great location we would stay there again.

There was a lot of space so everyone could spread out and do separate activities. Many families who came with us want to come back to the area and specifically back to Riverwalk.

Everything about the cottage was very well situated . The only thing I can think of that was a con , is that one of the bedrooms did not have a luggage rack or any other surface to place a suitcase upon. Friends Thanksgiving Posted: Dec 6, 2018 My family and friends stayed at Naples North for Thanksgiving weekend and we had an awesome time!! The house was well equipped from the kitchen supplies to extra towels and plenty to do for kids and adults!! The hot tub was an added bonus for all of us! We mainly stayed at the house with one exception of checking out Saugatuck Brewing Co. with was a fun place!! I highly recommend this house. Just one side note, the house was across the street from the lake.

Perfect Posted: Nov 18, 2018 My boyfriend and I came here for our annual anniversary getaway weekend. First time staying in Saugatuck. It was perfect! Loved the cozy romantic cottage. Hot tub was great for late night and looking at the stars even when it’s FREEZING out. Perfect location. Walking distance to downtown. 6-7 min walk to Bowdie’s (highly recommended). I will say that the cottages are VERY close to one another. But it didn’t even bother us or matter when the cottage makes you feel like you’re tucked away from the world. Beautiful in the fall with the leaves. We will be back!

Great stay Posted: Oct 3, 2018 The condo was very nice! Clean, well stocked, very nicely decorated. The size was perfect for two families (6 people total). The condo was within walking distance to downtown South Haven. Only negative is that the INDOOR pool and hot tub are closed after Labor Day. I thought the point of having these things indoors was so that you could enjoy them all year. It was my fault for not reading that in the fine print. Would love to stay here again during warmer weather to take advantage of the pool and lake! However, South Haven is an adorable town all year round.

Great stay in Saugatuck Posted: Sep 13, 2018 My husband and I spent 2 nights at Four Generations cottage in Saugatuck and were very pleased with the accommodations. The cottage was beautiful and very centrally located to town, just a couple of blocks walking distance to Butler Street, the main shopping area in town. The home was well appointed and had everything for a quiet, comfortable stay. The screened porch was great for morning coffee and the gas fireplace took off the chill in the evening. The bed was comfortable and the combination kitchen/greatroom was homey and inviting. I would highly recommend Four Generations cottage for your next stay in Saugatuck, we will definitely be back for a longer stay!

Hummingbird Labor Day 2018 Posted: Sep 11, 2018 My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hummingbird over Labor Day weekend as a getaway. The Hummingbird is a charming place to stay in Saugatuck. Its location is perfect and located with an easy walk to either downtown Saugatuck or Douglas. We liked the layout and amenities of the cottage. It was just the right size for 2 people. The cottage was clean and tidy. However, we felt the bed spread and the leather sofa where a little tired looking. Clean, but a little tired. It also would have been nice to have a blanket for the bed as it only had the bed spread. We had a great time in Saugatuck and Douglas and staying at the Hummingbird worked out great for us. We would stay there again. Brett

Exceeded expectations Posted: Sep 8, 2018 We’ve been vacationing to Michigan for the past 12 years or so and stayed in several different places. This one ranks among the best. Great yard, volleyball was a hit, plenty of room for the kids to play and the beach being right there was awesome. Not much if any sand on the beach - mostly rocks - but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The highlight of our stay was one night falling asleep watching a spectacular lightening show from our bedroom window. Who needs TV! Although it rained 2 of the days, it did not slow us down at all really. We tried some very nice restaurants and tried to walk there when it wasn't raining. The only suggestion would be to leave early to find parking if you do drive. Great trip!

Wonderful stay Posted: Jul 27, 2018 The Lay by the Bay accommodations made for an exceptional week in Saugatuck. The house was exactly as described with no surprises. The kitchen is beyond well equipped with nice cookware. Nice appliances. The linens throughout the home were nice quality. The television with surround sound made for an enjoyable experience whether it be the ballgame or just some background music during family game nights. Another great feature is the shuffleboard table. We had blind draw family tournaments. The exterior of the home could use some attention. The planter boxes are empty. The balcony canopy had an active bird nest and most disturbing was the number of spider webs (old and new) and bug guts over all of the windows. Those things are a part of summer at the lake, but it could use a quick power washing and window clean. Again, the whole experience was ideal. Great property. Highly recommend.

It was raining the entire time but this place saved us. We had the entire pool to ourselves. Although it rained every day we were here, we are already excited about the next stay here.

Water Street Retreat - Delightful! Posted: Jul 18, 2018 Our stay in Saugatuck was fantastic and the location, charm and cleanliness of the Water Street Retreat was beyond my expectations. It is on the small side for 4 people but we had zero issues, especially since we spent most of our time out enjoying the area and all it had to offer. The covered porch in back was nicely shaded and even during the warmest part of the day it was quite enjoyable. The other guests were polite but you can hear people walking upstairs if you are in the lower unit. It didn't bother us at all, but be aware of the potential if you are a light sleeper. Parking was tight for our truck, so we just parked on the street - again, no issue leaving it there for several nights. This snug condo would be perfect for a couple who wants a romantic perfectly located place to stay for a few days. We will definitely be back!

Nice stay Posted: Jul 5, 2018 Room provided what we were looking for: within walking distance of the shops/restaurants in Saugatauk; clean; quiet/privacy. Kitchen was very nice even though we did not use anything except the frig. A bit odd having living room and bedroom upstairs but we were only there to sleep. Negatives: Bathroom needs another towel bar. Ditch the picture and put up a towel bar. Bedroom definitely needs somewhere to hang clothes. Using the stair railing wasn't too cool. A small closet could easily be put in. We didn't need it, but having a door between bedroom and living room would be useful if someone stays up watching TV and the other goes to bed. Also, a blanket would be nice - some folks don't do well with AC. All in all we had a nice stay.

Review of a Little Piece of Heaven (VRBO) Posted: May 19, 2018 The booking was straight forward and simple enough to complete. The directions to the VRBO and the realtor lock were also as stated. The house was well kept, neat, and absolutely perfect. The location was ideal for us (nicely secluded) and the view was awesome all the way around because there were so many windows. The view from the back deck was spectacular overlooking the Kalamazoo River and its overflow wetland. For birders, the birds were abundant and no need to leave the house or porch to take pictures. We felt it was a perfect place for us; the interior of house was almost as great as the view. Overall we gave this place and the booking agent an A+. As an example of why we gave the agent an A+: The 1st morning the coffee pot didn't work so we called the agent. We left for some local activities for a few hours and upon arriving at the house we had a NEW pot that worked perfectly) Kudos to agent and house.

Wonderful experience Posted: May 18, 2018 I booked this cottage for a long weekend with the family and in-laws. All worries were relieved upon opening the front door and realizing that the photos online do not do this place justice. Newly remodeled and nicely furnished. Tall ceilings give this place the feeling that it’s even larger than it is. It rained most of the weekend so we didn’t get to take advantage of the backyard, but it looked nice. I will definitely be booking here again.

Very Cozy Winter Wonderland! Posted: Jan 4, 2018 My family treated our mother to a "Saugatuck Winter Adventure!" for her Christmas present this year! This cottage fit all of our needs perfectly! We needed: 3 bedrooms, large kitchen, and Saugatuck! This cottage had everything on our list plus a few bonuses--a FIREPLACE!! There was a ridiculous blizzard our day of arrival and we almost didn't make it! The fire was exactly what we needed to thaw ourselves out!! There was also a tempting hot tub-- (but 9 degree temps and sideways blowing snow crushed that idea! Ha!) This cottage has a LOT of room! On Christmas Day, we were able to cook a large dinner, play board games, open presents by the fire, and just relax. The next day we ventured out into the tundra and were delighted to find several shops and art galleries were still open for the season! We enjoyed coffee at Uncommon Coffee Roasters in the morning (best Lavender Latte ever!) And had dinner at The Southerner that night (our favorite restaurant in town!!) We all had a great time!

The rental was clean and had everything we needed for our get away. We were supposed to be celebrating our 20th anniversary in New Orleans but Hurricane Nate had us heading North at the last minute. Fairly private location off the road and up against a wooded hill. Away from noise of town but a short walk to the restaurants and shopping. Upkeep is very good. Hot tub worked well.

Great get away Posted: Sep 13, 2017 Our group travels every year to find a new, fun place to explore. We have finally found one that we want to revisit. This house is not only in a great location, but it is great for multiple couples. The house is very clean and is one of the most unique designs we have seen. The kitchen is well stocked with top end appliances. The furniture and beds are very comfortable. The back porch was very nice with a great view of the lake. The house is within a quarter mile walk to the downtown area. The location is optimal for people that want to explore the downtown Saugatuck area. The house is also close to the bridge to Douglas which allows for a quick drive to the area of Oval Beach and Douglas. Our contact with the rental company was very responsive to our basic questions. We really appreciated that. All in all, this was one of the best experiences we have had with a rental home and location. We will absolutely be back. Thanks for helping us have a great weekend.

Fantastic night at the Swallow Posted: Aug 16, 2017 The Swallow was very comfortable. We loved the screened-in porch and the hot tub. It was conveniently located with the shops and restaurants within walking distance. It is stocked with cleaning supplies for the kitchen and the attention to detail was much appreciated (they even had needle and thread just in case!). Our teenaged daughter was very happy with the Wi-Fi access.

The booking process, payment process, and getting into the unit was a breeze. We will stay again! The only (very slight) negative was that we had one very loud "walker"above us. The other person you could hardly hear when they walked. They kept similar hours as us so it wasn't really a problem.

Great House Posted: Aug 4, 2017 We have been going to Saugatuck for 15 years. We've rented several different houses in town. The Swallow was clean, comfortable and close to town. Beds were comfortable. We really didn't spend a lot of time at the house but I would for sure recommend it to anyone.

Exceeded our expectations Posted: Aug 3, 2017 Everything about River's Edge impressed us. The house itself is stunning, we loved walking to the dock to take the kayaks a stand-up paddle board out on the lake, it's a super short drive to town, the hot tub was an amazing feature, the games downstairs were terrific, and the rental company very responsive to our questions. We would definitely stay again. The only things to note is that the walls are very thin upstairs and the temperature is verrrrry cold on the lower level. Plus, I had thought we would have a lake view from some of the photos we saw online but it's a short walk and with the golf cart it's an even shorter walk so we didn't miss the lake at all.

Another great time in Saugatuck Posted: Aug 1, 2017 This is our 8th year coming to Saugatuck. We have been staying in town at various locations. The Oriole was just perfect for the two of us. Very clean and comfortable. The screened in porch was a major plus as was the outdoor hot tub. Even though we only did breakfast the kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary items for dinner and cooking. You'll need to bring spices etc and other items for dinner as this cottage doesn't doesn't supply them. Not a show stopper. The street was quiet and the breeze at night was refreshing sittin on the porch. After a 5.5 mile hike in Saugatuck state park south trail the hot tub was what the doctor ordered. We always stay in town and found this little gem to be one of our favorites. We will return in a heartbeat. Thank you

Perfect Getaway! Posted: Jul 21, 2017 This place was perfect for a low-key, long-weekend. It was cozy, clean and private. The hot tub at night is almost secluded-feeling. Downtown Saugatuck is only a 5 minute walk. The kitchen hardware is well stocked in case you choose to prepare a meal in. I've been crowing about this place since we've been back! I wouldn't hesitate to book it again.

Nightingale Girls' Trip Posted: Jun 28, 2017 We loved our stay at Nightingale. The location was great, and check-in was easy. It was also nice to have newer appliances such as an ice maker, dishwasher, and washer dryer. We loved the larger couch for all four of us, and the large table for playing games. The hot tub made it a perfect stay!

Our family has been coming to Saugatuck every summer for more than 20 years and have stayed in each of the Bird Center Cottages. They are clean, close to town and have all of the ammenities one would want for an enjoyable family vacation. Will definately return!

The hot tub was great (especially since it was off-season) and takes two minutes to walk to downtown Saugatuck. Would definitely recommend!

Fun in Saugatuck Posted: Nov 7, 2016 The Water Street Retreat was a perfect setting for a weekend away. We could not have asked for a better location. The condo had everything you would need while you in the unit. Fully stocked kitchen for us to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Comfortable seating, dining table, bedding and bed were great. Bathroom was nice and shower pressure was great with lots of hot water. Everything was updated and super clean. Checking in and out was very efficient. The house and hot tub were both extremely well taken care of and the decor was adorable (I really want that dog clock). great Labor Day Weekend! Posted: Sep 10, 2016 We stayed at Swing Bridge #40 over the Labor Day weekend. The condo was great for our family of 6 adults. The furnishings, towels, and overall decor was beautiful. We loved the location. It was close to everything we wanted to do. Even walking distance to several things. We enjoyed the ping pong table and the keyless entry. That made it very convenient for comings and goings for everyone not having to worry about keys. Gave a 1/2 star off for one TV not working and no blinds (upper windows) which was a problem in the morning in lower level bedroom. We would definitely recommend #40 and would stay here again. Manager Response: Thank you for the input. The owner is ordering blinds for the lower level. Also a phone call and a message to the office we would have taken care of the tv. Thank you

Its the perfect location within walking distance to everything! More than enough room for a family of 4. Everything was spotless & so clean when we checked in. Ethan & Julie ( from the managment team) were excellent to work with as I had some specialty questions prior to our trip. Abundant supply of towels & blankets in condo. Full kitchen was amazing! Priced right for a wonderful 3 day getaway for my family! We will be back!

Fantastic! Posted: Aug 16, 2016 We were so happy with this great little apartment for our stay in Saugatuck. It was so well maintained and had everything we needed. The porch was a big bonus, and it felt very private even though other buildings were nearby. The WiFi worked great, and parking was so easy. Check-in and check-out were super simple. One of the biggest benefits was the location. It was nice that it wasn't right in the middle of the action, but it was no more than a 10 minute walk to get to the heart of Saugatuck or to the restaurant district in Douglas. And just a quick drive to the beach, the dunes, and the nearby wineries!

It was plenty of room for us & not too far from the shops & restaurants. The cottage was just like the pictures online, very clean & well equipped! We would definitely recommend it!

Cute house and geeat location Posted: Jul 26, 2016 Our family just rented this cute cottage for our first vacation and we had a great time! House has nice amenities...washer/dryer being a big win for us with daily visits to the beach! Good comfy couches and nice living space for small family/group. One thing I wish I had known beforehand with two little kids was that the bath is a shower vs tub, which was a little more challenging for us. We were sort of missing an outdoor patio/hangout spot. The hot tub area could easily be made to include this and it would be a great addition! Overall, a very nice spot and we are happy with our stay. Just adding my comments to help paint the picture for future renters!

Posted: Jul 19, 2016 First and foremost the Nightingale offers a convenient short walk to all the attractions of the downtown area...the cottage is very clean the rooms are of ample size and amenities are suitable for a long stay....We failed to give it 5 stars due to only 1 bath, limited television stations for downtime relaxation and no privacy on front door...we had to hang a towel on the door to provide nighttime privacy since the front door is directly on one of the main streets getting into town.... Beds were comfortable, plenty of towels and kitchen utensils etc... Would stay again but would hope our concerns would be addressed Saugatuck is a beautiful little town with a lot to offer for everyone youy and old

Anniversary getaway Posted: Jul 2, 2016 We had a wonderful time at quaint cottages. The location was excellent! perfect location to walk to anything in Saugatuck. The chain ferry to take you over to Oval beach on Lake Michigan is just across the street. The condo itself was very clean, true to the pictures and very comfortable. The owners are very easy to work with. It also was a great spot if you want to venture to Holland or Grand Haven, which is what we were looking for. A few things to mention: the best grocery store is a 5 min. drive to Douglas, if you go to eat at the Red Dock bring cash, they don't accept cards. It is a very laid back, back porch kind of place with awesome views, but more of a lunch location. You can even pull right up to the dock in your boat! Phil's bar and Grill was excellent! Go early! Sometimes a long wait. The parking space was small. A few nights we parked on the street because a couple of other renters had SUVs and we didn't feel like trying to squeeze in. I would definitely rent here again!

Great location Posted: Jun 27, 2016 My wife and two sons visited Saugatuck this past weekend. This townhome was brand new and was perfect for our family. We could have easily had another three or four people in this location comfortably. You can walk to downtown Saugatuck or Douglass in less than 15 minutes which has great restaurants and shopping. We also rented a pontoon in Saugatuck and went out on Lake Michigan as well. We would definitely go back and stay here!

Lovely winter setting Posted: Jan 23, 2016 Our group (3 families) spent one winter weekend at Naples North. We loved the layout of the house. The kids loved the downstairs area, playing ping pong, and using the hot tub. The kitchen was very well equipped. We cooked all of our meals and all the kitchenware we needed was provided. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were all very nice. We enjoyed the close proximity to the lake. We had a very minor issue with the grill and the caretakers returned our phone calls immediately. I highly recommend a stay at Naples North.

Perfect New Year get away Posted: Jan 6, 2016 Upon our arrival, the cottage fit exactly what the description said. It was cozy, small, a lot of amenities, and perfect for just the two of us. We did plan on using everything that the cottage had to offer so even in 30 degree weather, the hot tub was a great way to just relax. The cottage was very clean and check out was pretty easy given the instructions. The only thing that my fiancé was a little bit uneasy about what there was no blind or shade that covered the front door. She did happen to get over it but I would have to say that that was the only dislike, which does not out weigh everything else the cottage has to offer. I would definitely recommend staying here and my fiancé and I already said we are coming back. Steve

Posted: Oct 8, 2015 Enjoyed our stay very much. House is very conveniently located and well furnished with towels, detergent, linens etc. I did find a few dirty small plates in the cabinet. I washed those, but did not check other dishes. I know that was the fault of the previous occupants. We did find the windows closed, but were unlocked. Did not like that. Also, you need brighter or more lights. Very hard to read in the evening. Would recommend The Swallow and would use it again myself.

Lay by the Bay August 16-23 Posted: Aug 28, 2015 This is our second year renting this house. We love it. My only negative is that they need some umbrellas on the deck. We were told we could not use the awning and there are 2 places for umbrellas to go. They deck is steel or aluminum and it gets very very hot. Umbrella would be helpful in the hot sun. Otherwise we LOVE the place. We just need a bigger place for next year. Family growing....

The house was clean except the floors made our feet black so we wore shoes the whole time we were there. Not a problem unless you have little ones. We thought it was tastefully decorated and we loved the hot tub. Even though the place was tiny, it felt bigger with the lovely screened in porch. It had everything we needed but could have used a blind on the back door for privacy. We found that setting up the accomodations was very easy and there was no need to go to a different location for a key. It was also a great location that was just a short walk to town. We would come back again in the future.

Our stay at Oriole cottage- Summer 2015 Posted: Jul 6, 2015 We absolutely loved staying at the Oriole! Ethan was SO great to talk to on phone when I needed a question answered. Linda the housekeeper was great! I loved how someone came to check on Hot tub, very nice. Accommodations were great. It was very neat and clean. Very nice that kitchen had utensils, pots and pans to use, I did not expect that so it was a nice surprise. Overall, great experience! P.S. The screened in porch is phenomenal!!!!!!! So was Jacuzzi!! Would love to go back!

Great stay! Posted: Jun 14, 2015 we had a great time in Saugatuk. The house was super cute, and in a great location. Close to the water and downtown, but also a short drive to nearby places. Everything was exactly as described. The only real problem we if was that the chlorine in the hot tub seemed very strong so we took it out for a few days to back off a bit on the chemicals. Everything else was fantastic! We would definitely stay there again!

Quite comfortable for two people and not right in the down town but very convenient to it. Would come again. It would be helpful to having a listing of the TV stations i.e. what numbers correspond to ABC, NBC,CBS, PBS, Weather channel, etc.

Great Girls Getaway Posted: May 3, 2015 We recently spent a few days at the Swallow for a girls getaway weekend. The home could not have been more perfect for us. It was very spacious, clean and comfortable and the location was great, with only a short walk to local restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed spending time relaxing on the sunny patio and the hot tub was wonderful. I would absolutley recommed the Swallow for anyone looking for a great home base for their Saugatuck vacation. We were already planning when we will be back!
