Gathering Place #1 Cabin Posted: Jul 21, 2022 Beautifully located, and the cleanest place Iʼve ever stayed in. Everything works easily and well (the heater, stove, hot water, etc.). Lots of lovely towels and extra blankets. Seniors may find the ladder to the loft difficult but there is a great bedroom with a queen bed downstairs and also a comfortable sofa pull-out bed.

The Gathering Place: Wonderful stay Posted: Aug 26, 2019 Cabin was spacious, clean and had everything that we needed. Enjoyed sitting out on the deck, just taking in the beautiful scenery. Was lucky to be able to see the bear cubs each day of our stay, down the road from the cabin. Kitchen facilities allowed us to be able to cook a few meals. Would definitely recommend staying here.

The Gathering Place Cabin #1: Beautiful cottage stay Posted: Jul 7, 2019 We’ve been to Haines a few times, and decided to try out the new cottages at The Gathering Place this time around - we’d definitely stay here again! The location was absolutely perfect in terms of distance to the ferry dock and to town - a quick drive or an easy bike ride. Plus the view!! The cottage was also nicely stocked with appliances and dishes, as well as an abundance of soft fluffy towels and a fantastic shower (especially appreciated as we were coming off several days of camping in the backwoods). The hosts were lovely, and clearly committed to ensuring that we had a great stay.

Perfect Place!! Posted: Jun 26, 2019 We've stayed at The Gathering Place 4 or 5 times now. GREAT location, just minutes from fabulous fishing and bear viewing. Cabin is always nice and clean, comfy beds and has everything you need. Views from the front window and deck are one of the best in Haines! You'll love it and we'll be back again!

The cabin had everything we needed for our night stay and it was super clean and cozy. We were greeted upon arrival by the caretaker of the cabin which was so nice. We also brought our two little kids who just loved it (8 months and 4 yrs old). I only wish we could have stayed longer than one night!

The Gathering Place cabin #1: Getaway Posted: May 23, 2019 We LOVED our time at the Gathering Place cabin #1! We came up with our toddler for a quick vacation for our fifth wedding anniversary. Even though the camping area has multiple cabins and other accommodations, it felt private and offered just the quiet and peace we were looking for. The cabin was clean, comfortable, full of natural light, and offered just the right combo of modern comforts and old-fashioned simplicity. Our hosts were friendly, available, and helpful, pointing out where the brown bears had been sighted recently and even offering to pick up any items we needed while on a trip into town. The views of Lutak Inlet are spectacular (and this is from someone who grew up on Alaska's Inside Passage with a view of the Wrangell mountains). They've done a great job with this spot. My one and only recommendation would be...better quality coffee!

The Gathering Place Cabin #1: Simply Amazing Posted: Sep 14, 2018 This short 2 day visit to Haines was enhanced significantly by the added beauty and serenity of this gem overlooking Nature's masterpiece. Our own private viewing of the Northern Lights from the front deck cannot adequately be described...., must be seen! For my family and I, it was included with the cost of the rental. Finally, the bears feeding on the salmon, are located 2 miles down the road. Oh, and the friendliest service you will find anywhere! What a delight.

The Gathering Place Cabin #1: Peaceful, great location, good for families Posted: Sep 9, 2018 We stayed here for 2 nights. We enjoyed having the kitchenette and the proximity to wildlife. The view over the water was beautiful at night with the stars and the mountains. We watched an old movie on the DVD player that was provided when we needed some quiet family time from the bustle of travel. The deck is a great place to sit and chill.

Cheri and Frank have built a little Nirvana with the most amazing views, the cabin has all you could want is comfortable and warm. The wild life is aboundant as is the possibility for outdoor adventure! I believe they also do weddings...your wedding photo’s would have the most glorious backdrop!

The Gathering Place: Great cabin with a beautiful view Posted: Aug 18, 2017 Yukoner stayed here for 1 night with visiting parents, would've stayed longer but it was booked. Peaceful beautiful spot, close to Chilkoot River for bear viewing & fishing, easy drive from town. Is traffic on the road in front, but not a lot & being up higher we didn't find it noisy or disturbing. Sat on front porch & watched fish jumping in the water, picked raspberries for breakfast, & enjoyed the view. Great kitchen, fully set up, we cooked & ate all our meals there. Comfortable beds, good space for 3 people (could've fit more with loft beds & pull-out couch). Location of two cabins is really smart - they're right next to each other but they're offset at a slight angle, so you can sit out on your front porch and feel like it's private (can't see the other people sitting on their porch unless you crane your head around the corner). Water in the shower was a little wacky, kept going from scalding hot to freezing, but otherwise we had an awesome time. Would definitely stay again!

The cabins have a beautiful view and we saw salmon jumping, eagles soaring, and bears walking the shoreline. Terrific spot for our overnight stay and we were made to feel very welcome.

Breathtaking view at The Gathering Place Posted: Aug 2, 2017 Don't even bother to stay in town in Haines, drive on out to The Gathering Place. It may not be full hookup, but we stayed 7 days and only had to go dump once. The view is breathtaking and the owners are more than just a business owner, they make you feel like you are part of the family. You are close to the Chilkoot State Park and you if you want to see bears and eagles, you will definitely see them down by the bridge and lake. It's double the price to stay in town. You are only 7 minutes from downtown Haines. If you are interested in a cabin, oh my goodness, they are beautiful. The view is just unbelievable. They are very clean.

The Gathering Place Cabin #1: Amazing views and peaceful Posted: Jun 11, 2017 We enjoyed every part of our weekend there. The cabin is set up with everything we needed.(and more!) The privacy and view was just what we were looking for. We even watched a whale in the canal, right from the front porch. Thanks for having binoculars available. If we needed anything, all we had to do was ask. It is so close to the lake, ferry and town too. We had a great time kayaking and hiking. Thanks for the tip on where to rent Kayaks, they were so nice to work with.
