cozy and fun Posted: Sep 28, 2024 'Quant cottages' is no misnomer for this cute little oriole cottage. Our 40th anniversary was certainly a fun adventure here. For the record: the shower is crazy small. The screened in room is small but a blast to listen to the breeze, the rain, and the cars crawl by. We spent more time in the screen room than the cottage. I thought the whirlpool would be too small but it was perfect for the two of us. It could use a bit more screening from the next door cottage but we are not timid so se la vie. The cushions on the screen room all season furniture could use a padding upgrade. Everything else was just fine. As others have said, the bed was really comfortable. The living area small, but it had everything we needed. At that end of Saug you can get a pizza and sixer with a quick walk. Mexican place next door was nice too. All in all this was a comfortable stay and a short walk to the heart of Butler etc.

So conveniently located to downtown saugatuck’s dining and shopping and also short drives to other locations like Oval Beach and Douglas Beach. Really enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to coming back!

Iffy! But great Posted: Mar 12, 2024 We went for 3 days it was amazing! , but the hot tub felt like it was draining somewhere and the jets are very messed up and messy , there’s no light also so it’s dangerous cause I almost slipped and fell other than that what an amazing quiet place !!!

The shops and restaurants are so charming, and the oriole is located walking distance to the heart of downtown. Very clean, organized, and accommodating all around.

Great little getaway. Posted: Jun 19, 2023 The Oriole was a very cozy little cabin to spend our long weekend getaway. Very clean and accommodating. My wife and I had never been to Saugatuck, however we were very happy to have visited. The only things I would mention are very minor but simple things that I think could improve the stay. It would have been nice to have a simple bottle of hand soap. The hot-tub was missing the headrests making relaxing…a little less relaxing (hard plastic with the cutout for headrests). I wasn’t aware that we were basically 10 feet away from other rentals, the fence could be extended so that we weren’t looking into the neighbors bedroom window while in the hot tub (arms reach away). Really not much at all to complain about though, we had a great time and we’re very happy with the rental.

WiFI signals were weak and spotty though and the tv would go in and out or keep spinning. We would definitely love to visit The Oriole again.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway! Posted: Jan 26, 2022 My boyfriend and I chose The Oriole for a little winter getaway to explore Saugatuck. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with towels and kitchen supplies. We loved having a hot tub just steps from our front door with all of the snow that we got during our stay! But the best part of all was having our walkway and driveway shoveled each day to make getting to and from the cottage a breeze! We can’t wait to come back when the weather is warmer.

My only comment is there was no outdoor lighting on the property. When we came back after dark, we had to use our phone lights. Thou, maybe I missed a switch. We will be back!

It was spotless upon our arrival and they had good COVID guidelines in place. The screened in porch and hot tub made an already beautiful outside experience even more comfortable and fun. The mattress is firm, but I like that so it didn't bother me. Would definitely stay here again!

Our only minor suggestion would be to have an air pump for the bikes, as the air seemed a bit low. Other than that, we will definitely return next time we are in the area!

It was nice to have access to the bikes. We enjoyed the hot tub and spent a lot of time in the screened-in porch. The only negative is the tiny shower. We enjoyed being able to walk downtown for dinner and drinks and walk back to soak in the private hot tub. We appreciated that the Oriole was clean and it was clear that the owners were talking COVID precautions. We would definitely return to the Oriole or another Bird Center property in the future.

It's within walking distance to all the nice shops, restaurants and sights in Saugatuck. The cottage was very clean, the bed was comfortable and firm, the Wi-Fi worked, the heat definitely worked, the shower was nice and the hot tub was very relaxing. Make sure to pack some tea bags and coffee grounds as those are not provided. I'd stay here again and recommend it.

Cozy space close to town Posted: Apr 19, 2019 Loved the location and the amenities! This cozy cabin is just a few minutes walk from downtown shopping, dining and entertainment. Layout was comfortable and made good use of available space to create a nice HQ for our weekend adventure. It's a studio setup with a bed, large kitchenette, and bathroom laid out on one floor in a straight line. The outdoor living space was large and included comfy couches in a screened porch. Just past that was a hot tub that easily accommodated two people, heated quickly, and held the temp even when sitting in it on a 40 degree night (fun!). Privacy was mostly not an issue with the exception of a window in the neighboring cabin that looked directly into the hot tub area and the uncovered window on the front door of the cabin. We couldn't figure out how to turn on the kitchen lights, but it wasn't that big of a deal. TV worked great with built in apps for internet streaming (logout of your Netflix account before you leave!) Bathroom was small but adequate

Perfect Posted: Nov 18, 2018 My boyfriend and I came here for our annual anniversary getaway weekend. First time staying in Saugatuck. It was perfect! Loved the cozy romantic cottage. Hot tub was great for late night and looking at the stars even when it’s FREEZING out. Perfect location. Walking distance to downtown. 6-7 min walk to Bowdie’s (highly recommended). I will say that the cottages are VERY close to one another. But it didn’t even bother us or matter when the cottage makes you feel like you’re tucked away from the world. Beautiful in the fall with the leaves. We will be back!

Saugatuck refuge Posted: Sep 20, 2017 Small but OK for couple not spending a lot of time at the cottage. Pleasant screened porch for coffee and playing card games/backgammon. Fairly private location off the road and up against a wooded hill. Away from noise of town but a short walk to the restaurants and shopping. Upkeep is very good. Hot tub worked well.

Another great time in Saugatuck Posted: Aug 1, 2017 This is our 8th year coming to Saugatuck. We have been staying in town at various locations. The Oriole was just perfect for the two of us. Very clean and comfortable. The screened in porch was a major plus as was the outdoor hot tub. Even though we only did breakfast the kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary items for dinner and cooking. You'll need to bring spices etc and other items for dinner as this cottage doesn't doesn't supply them. Not a show stopper. The street was quiet and the breeze at night was refreshing sittin on the porch. After a 5.5 mile hike in Saugatuck state park south trail the hot tub was what the doctor ordered. We always stay in town and found this little gem to be one of our favorites. We will return in a heartbeat. Thank you

Perfect Getaway! Posted: Jul 21, 2017 This place was perfect for a low-key, long-weekend. It was cozy, clean and private. The hot tub at night is almost secluded-feeling. Downtown Saugatuck is only a 5 minute walk. The kitchen hardware is well stocked in case you choose to prepare a meal in. I've been crowing about this place since we've been back! I wouldn't hesitate to book it again.

Fantastic! Posted: Aug 16, 2016 We were so happy with this great little apartment for our stay in Saugatuck. It was so well maintained and had everything we needed. The porch was a big bonus, and it felt very private even though other buildings were nearby. The WiFi worked great, and parking was so easy. Check-in and check-out were super simple. One of the biggest benefits was the location. It was nice that it wasn't right in the middle of the action, but it was no more than a 10 minute walk to get to the heart of Saugatuck or to the restaurant district in Douglas. And just a quick drive to the beach, the dunes, and the nearby wineries!

Perfect New Year get away Posted: Jan 6, 2016 Upon our arrival, the cottage fit exactly what the description said. It was cozy, small, a lot of amenities, and perfect for just the two of us. We did plan on using everything that the cottage had to offer so even in 30 degree weather, the hot tub was a great way to just relax. The cottage was very clean and check out was pretty easy given the instructions. The only thing that my fiancé was a little bit uneasy about what there was no blind or shade that covered the front door. She did happen to get over it but I would have to say that that was the only dislike, which does not out weigh everything else the cottage has to offer. I would definitely recommend staying here and my fiancé and I already said we are coming back. Steve

We thought it was tastefully decorated and we loved the hot tub. Even though the place was tiny, it felt bigger with the lovely screened in porch. It had everything we needed but could have used a blind on the back door for privacy. We found that setting up the accomodations was very easy and there was no need to go to a different location for a key. It was also a great location that was just a short walk to town. We would come back again in the future.

Linda the housekeeper was great! I loved how someone came to check on Hot tub, very nice. Accommodations were great. It was very neat and clean. Very nice that kitchen had utensils, pots and pans to use, I did not expect that so it was a nice surprise. Overall, great experience! P.S. The screened in porch is phenomenal!!!!!!! So was Jacuzzi!! Would love to go back!

Quite comfortable for two people and not right in the down town but very convenient to it. Would come again. It would be helpful to having a listing of the TV stations i.e. what numbers correspond to ABC, NBC,CBS, PBS, Weather channel, etc.
